Hopefully, the answer is yes. If the answer is no, what brand of running shoe do they issue?

Speaking from personal experience here.

You CAN but they will take them, put them in a box with your other clothes, and ship them home. They will issue you a pair of running shoes along with a jogging suit more commonly known amongst recruits as "smurfs" for their blue color.

The brand of shoe they issue is New Balance. Unless they have changed it since March of 2005.

When I went through about two years ago it was still New Balance. You will have to ship the shoes you bring with you home. New Balance makes some pretty decent running shoes. The ones I got in boot camp lasted a while.

No. Navy boot camp will issue you all your gear. So what you wear and take will be shipped back to your home town address. I'm a Navy vet, and you get not to keep anything you bring. Smooth sailing.

You can bring whatever you want but once you get there they will give you a big brown box and you put all of your belongings in there and they will send it back home to your parents or who ever you want it to be sent to. My fiancee left for Navy boot camp October 9th he brought wore his shoes, hat, sunglasses, brought his cell phone, etc but it was all sent back in a box. like everyone else said the military issues you everything, clothes, shoes, underwear, toothbrush, and many more things. i hope this helps you and i hope you have a great adventure in the Navy!

They issue you a little "Hygiene kit" when you get there that has razors in it. If you bring your own razors and tweezers, I don't think they'll take them away or anything. We were only allowed to shave on Sundays. Honestly, you're happy just to get a shower you don't really care about shaving. Forgot to add, the only things I'd encourage you bring with you(besides important papers) are your own white underwear and white sportsbras. I brought underwire bras and they made me buy sports bras from the Exchange and the selection was TOTALLY picked over. Worst bras I ever wore in my life.

No. You have to wear the running shoes they issue you. Everybody has to wear the same clothes in boot camp.

No, you can't.

We were all issued lousy, canvas Converse rubber soled shoes. They were fine for fooling around on a basketball court but absolutely horrible for running.

The answer is yes, but you won't be able to use them when you are training. You will be issued a pair of boon-dockers (short boots) and will be expected to wear them out before you graduate.

Nope, your clothes and extras you bring to bootcamp get placed in storage until the day you leave. It's all about conformity, same uniform, shoes, underwear, you get the picture.
