1 John 5:19 says "we know we originate with God but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.
2 Cor 4:4 tells us Satan is the god of this system of things.
Exodus 34:14 sums it up. "For you must not prostrate yourself to another god because Jehovah, whose name is jealous, he is a jealous God."
Matt 6:24 says "no one can slave for two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other or he will stick to the one and despise the other..." This scripture was more about money but the thought is clear.
If you are dressing up (yourself or your kids) you are participating in a terrible celebration that God is deeply hurt by. You may think it is no big deal but think about how hurt and angry God is by Satans lies, deceptions & corruption of what belongs to Him. I'm sure it's a HUGE deal to God. He watches to see whose side we're on, what's in our heart .
Jesus was tested (by Satan) but proved faithful.
Halloween is a test...did you pass it?

ok...it seems from the first few answers that my question is not being treated as a question but a judgement. I certainly am in no position to judge. I make lots of mistakes, daily for that matter :)
Before coming to love God, I also dressed up, pretty scary too if I say so myself. It's clear that God wants us to be "no part of the world" (John 17:14,15), to seperate ourselves from things not upright. I'm sorry but witches, ghosts, vampires, and such are not associated with Christ.
I just want to make some think. What we do matters. Not to me, to God.

1 Peter 1:13-16 ...keep your senses completely...quit being fashioned according to the desires you formly had in your ignorance...become holy...
Col 2:8 Look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry you off as prey through philosophy and empty deception according to the traditions of men, things of the world not according to Christ.
Mark 7:13 and thus you make the word of God invaild by your traditions which you handed down
Jenx; God's thoughts are higher than our own, He lovingly provided the Bible for us to do our best to understand his feelings and thinking on things.
2Tim 3:16 tells us all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, reproving and setting things straight...
We know that God has feelings.
He is a happy God 1 Tim 1:11
God is wrathful John 3:36
He is slow to anger Psalms 103:8
Angry! Isaiah 30:27
Jealous Exodus 34:14
Jehovah has feelings. He tells us about them through his word.

Reading through your answers I see the scripture you quoted in 1John fits well.
Is this not the attitude that Satan wants ?
It don't matter what the bible says if it gets in the way of having fun.
If I am wrong Jesus will forgive me , I am saved. She will be all right mate. Are these the words of a serious Christian who obeys god with urgency ?
Is this not the attitude displayed before the flood.
2 other scriptures I think apply -
1 Timothy 4:7
2 Timothy 3:5
Alexande ...I think you got that scripture a little muddled up check..... Matthew 7:12 to 14

How could you possibly know how deeply God is hurt by people celebrating Halloween? No one knows the mind of God. The scriptures you quoted say nothing about it. I have researched several different meanings to Halloween. But no matter what it started out to be, it is now just a harmless way for kids, and some grown ups to have a little fun. My faith is strong enough not to turn to evil because I pass out a little candy on Halloween. I don't see these kids or grown ups out there worshiping satan, because they trick or treat. And explain to me how you are worshiping another God by trick or treating? You have a right to your opinion, but so does every body else. And you are not the one to judge them. Only God can do that.

I't just another "sucker" holiday where people run out and spend money on something that they don't need, and is bad for you. Gotta keep those shareholders at Hershey happy. What else do people of the world have to look forward to? Jesus said to be no part of the world, so I would think that a serious Christian would not participate in the event.

Halloween started as a celebration of the harvest. Nothing wrong with celebrating halloween, just don't worship it or put it before God. That's like people who say Christmas trees are bad. I'm not worshipping the tree, just displaying a holiday icon, in the remembrence of the Lord's visit here in an earthly body. And yes, I study my bible daily.

How can people claim to be Christian ?
A claim is a claim it doesn't mean it's true.
There Actions are what are proof they are Christian.
If you consider the attitudes displayed by most answers above me , regardless of what the words of the bible says they have proven their claim false.

Oh give me a break. It's just a day for kids to have fun and eat their weight in candy. And I see no passage in the Bible that says anything's wrong with that. Now if people actually started scrificing other people or intentionally started worshipping Satan then I'd think it was wrong.
And by the way. Who said we all have to think like you? What if the Hindus are right and you are severely offending Krishna by going to church every week?

Halloween is NOT evil. It was originally pagan, but never had anything to do with the devil. It is All Hallows Eve - an ancient religious tradition for the night before November 1st.
Christians have misinterpreted their bible (or been told what to believe by their leaders) that Halloween is evil, and they have been too lazy to find out the truth for themselves.

Honey, you need to relax. The celebrating of Halloween is about what is in the heart, not how SOME people think of it (as evil).
Let's face it.....LOTS of "Christians" don't really spend much time at Christmas REALLY thinking about what it means, do they?
On a more serious note, PLEASE do not try to tell me what GOD is hurt by....unless you have scripture to back it up.
And I'm a Christian.....I'm on your side, but honey, this isn't the hill you want to die on. If I give out candy to some 6-year-old dressed up like Winnie the Pooh, it has NOTHING to do with satan.

First of all let me start by saying, don't believe what everyone is saying. They think they know better. Those who celebrate Halloween and say that they are Christians are a hypocrite! We all know that true Christians don't celebrate Halloween. And another thing, true Christians know that the name of God is Jehovah!
