The local Judge Executive decided to have Halloween trick or treating for the county a day EARLY because a few of his preacher buddies complained that people would be missing church on the holiday. The loss of money in the collection plates for one day hurts them too much it seems. I think the moron should be tossed out. So far, I've heard from at least a couple hundred other people who will be voting against him next election because of this. I also think the preachers who complained should be replaced. Your thoughts?
OH, by the way, only one small town went along with the Judge Executive's decision. Even the Sherrif's Dept. and the District Court had candy for the children today, as scheduled.

I got deleted, so this is my backup account.

Anyway, pre-tell what is a Judge Executive? Either way, that guy's a douche.

Judges basically have "carte blanc" in their districts unless they do something that specifically violates the law.
When I lived in Iowa they routinely had "treat night" which would be on a Friday or Saturday of the week Halloween was on but never on the same day. The people in the city voted it in that way.

As for your judge, it's a good thing those guys are elected officials, eh?

That is utterly ridiculous. The judge should be tossed out. I know here years ago, when I was a kid, it was so cold it was snowing and it got postponed to the next night (I lived in a small town), but I've never heard it moved so people wouldn't skip church.

Holiday Celebrations may or may not stop people from
going to church. What excuse to they use on a daily
basis if someone who shows up everyday suddenly
doesn't show up for one day ?????

And what LAW said he could do that? Being a Judge
doesn't give you special permission. What would happen
if everyone IGNORED his decision? I'd report him
to the Supreme Court and get every newspaper involved
and expose his abuse of power

The same thing happened in L.A. when I was a kid except it was Sunday. There were some homes that wouldn't give any candy until Halloween night. It ruined Halloween. No one went on Halloween due to the ruling...and church.
