If there's one thing in common with the answers of most atheists it's insults and the belittlement of anyone not sharing their beliefs. That's often, to me at least, a sign of crying out for respect, attention, and yes, LOVE.

I'm not talking sex here, just common old caring, compassionate, selfless LOVE. Keep the insults coming...they just prove my thesis.

Gypsy, chill out. I don't know any Christians like those you describe. Give details of your experiences so we can discuss this sensibly.

Yes, Andy H., but why do atheists go on the attack? Is it desperation, perhaps?

Gene, my version of love is "hideous"? I don't know of any version of love that's hideous. Kind of an oxymoron, wouldn't you agree. I just think atheists are craving something, and most of the atheists who've responded say it's not love. So what else could be lacking in their lives? Help me.

Jon Jon, I love you, too. Now let's talk.

The same actually can be said about christian the whole dramatic cry about wanting atheists to believe in their christian god. Morals can't be had unless one is a christian and other judgmental BS. This is one of the many attitudes from people of religion I can't stand. They claim that atheists are the ones in need of something yet looking at some of the religious people answers, "questions" and hateful insults here has me to see the true people who are craving love isn't just for the believers themselves but for their "supreme being" that is to be loved, praised, not questioned and etc. Yet the religious see and twist what atheists are doing just to feel all high and mighty and claim atheists are hateful...

I get it now, christians put themselves down when it comes to their deity talking about they aren't worthy but they know god loves them blah blah. To balance out this sadistic behavior they pretend they are the real loving and caring ones. What a bleeping joke.

Every human, regardless of being religious or atheist, craves approval and love. They want, and in most cases should be accepted by other with open arms. Instead people from both sides like to “throw stones” so to speak or start fights. Both sides have individuals guilty of prejudice.

If human beings have spirits, the place do they arrive from? Theists have cravings and a love of existence too.i like existence by way of fact I evaluate it a modern from God. in case you like existence, sturdy for you. yet why love existence if all of us have been given here by using accident? i'm hoping your cravings, sometime lead your spirit to the reality.

Gerry, your therapist-like wisdom astounds me. I desperately crave love. I'm sure the Christians who do the same thing need love too. What about people who try to show off their deep insight by diagnosing the emotional needs of an entire group as diverse as atheists? What are they craving?

I dont agree with that statement at all. How someone acts towards another person is a reflection of their personality more so than their beliefs. I know several religious people who are extremely narrow minded and judgemental to others who dont share their beliefs. That is an unfair generalization.

This atheist is pretty happy most of the time. I wouldn't mind a little respect from believers, though.

Ha ha ha. So you don't crave love because you're a believer. Does that mean you craved it before you became one?

As for me, I crave chocolate, and sometimes beer, and even sex, but not love. Your version of love is hideous.

I think they don't crave for love. They believe love is some kind of hormone thingy that I don't know.

Maybe they "crave for love" (sexual intercourse) so that they will feel good and to pass down those genetic thingies.

No, I don't think that is it, I have no problem finding love, real love.

Why every cult tries to sell love to prospective converts is an interesting question though!
It makes me think the Fundamentalists are the ones starved for love and that maybe, from the way they talk it up, it is the only reason they converted to their favourite cult.

I've got plenty of friends and family. Few of them share my beliefs, but guess what? I don't care, and they don't care either. I love them anyway, and they return the favor.

Sorry, you're going to have to try something else.
