The thing about the catholic church makes me mad is like they frown upon divorce so if u get a divorce they see u as not a member of their church. Also some other stuff...like cussing...premarital sex...etc.

I believe in God and Jesus and stuff. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for us and on the third day he rose again in fullfillment of the scriptures and his kingdom will have no end...all that good stuff...so its not like I don't believe in anything

I was a catholic growing up. There was things that I thought were kinda weird, like being taught that Jesus was the mediator between God and man. Then turning around and being told to pray to St Peter or whoever for whatever.
That kind of confused me.

Then when I got older, I learned that all religions were made up by man.
Someone, somewhere decided to make up a religion and in doing so, either forgot what the bible actually said or disreguarded
it altogether. Nowere in the bible does it
say not to eat meat on Friday. Nowere
does it say to pray to the Virgin Mary or St.
Peter. Yet, that is what the Catholic Chruch
tells its parishineers to do.

A chruch is not a building, but the people
who come together to fellowship and worship Our Lord.
Jesus left the glory of heaven to be born and live among men to show that he understands what men are going through.
Jesus was hungry, He got tired, He slept,
He was hated, He suffered, just like people
do today. He knows you and what you need and what you want.
He died on the cross to take away your sins. Not just the ones you did yesterday, but the ones you are doing now and the ones you will do tomorrow and next week and next year and the year after and after that until you do die.
Jesus only goal was to impart salvation on a world in need of it.
The bible says you cannot come to the Father except through the Son.
That means that no matter what religion you are, you can still go to heaven if you
believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for your sins and rose on the
third day and ask him out loud to be your personal Savior. He knows your heart and will know that you mean what you say.
The bible also says to believe and be baptized.
You are 14, that is an age that you know right from wrong and can make up your mind to accept Jesus as your savior. If you
do, then you can put your faith and trust in Him to lead you in the way you should go.
He is Lord and can do anything.

That is a definite reason for concern. The reason you don't have assurance is because the Catholic church doesn't teach that. However, the Bible does! The catholic church thinks that it takes God AND man to have salvation. The Bible says that salvation is a free gift from God. There is nothing we have to do to earn it other than believe. Yes, we should do good things because this is the "fruit" of a truly saved person.

The reason catholics can never have assurance is because men can mess up and if it takes man and God and the man messes up something...he's not saved. See the fault?

John said, "These things i have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life" 1 John 5:13.

There are many, many verses that say that those who BELIEVE have salvation. It says nothing about 'doing' anything.

I have had this fear of going to hell, too. An EXCELLENT book to read is "Saved Without a Doubt" by John MacArthur. You can get it on amazon or in many Christian bookstores.

God Bless<><

You are not a bad person. You don't have to go to Hell, if you love God enough to obey his laws. However you do have a free will. You have to make the choice to Love and serve God. Don't believe Mike, the Pope does believe in the Catholic Church. You need to go to confession and see your parish Priest right away. He will be your guide. I'm sure he will also give you literature that will help you out. I heard this on a program that I look at frequently. It is an insult to God to think that our sins are greater than Gods mercy. How true. Think about it. See your Priest he will help you with your feeling. It also kind of sounds like you have a discipline problem. You mention you don't like the Catholics beliefs, such as sex before marriage, but remember these are Gods laws. It's the responsibility of the Authorities of the church to teach you what is written in the bible. To teach you how you must live according to the bible. Make an appointment and talk to your Priest. ASAP. God love you, and by no means does he want you in Hell.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ? and do you also try hard to keep the ten commandments?(Exodus:20:2-17) if you follow what is said there in the Bible, then you won't go to hell. We have seen a lot of people who have already been experiencing living hell in prisons or premature deaths because of the crimes(murder,steal,adultery...and so on) they commit on earth. Then how can you say that there is no HELL! I suggest you observe what happen to those who commit crimes. Read the whole book of Matthew of the Bible. But there is one thing to point out, it is that you do not need to go to the church in order to be saved. You need to accept Jesus to be saved. Premarital sex (or fornication)is wrong. and if you don't understand read God's words to find out the true yourself, but be aware that some churches or organizations manipulate the scriptures to mislead innocent people. Read a reliable version of Bible and find out. God bless you.Because God has planted a seed in you, it will be growing or not, it all depends on your efforts.

First of all - don't believe the Devil's biggest and most successful lie - that he doesn't exist and that hell doesn't exist. You can see how many people right here at R&S have been deceived already.

Secondly - we all need other more mature believers in our lives to counsel and mentor us, to hold us accountable, to pray with us, grieve with us, help us and comfort us. I suggest you find someone - if not a priest or teacher or parent is best - and share your concerns with them.

And finally - don't worry. Only a truly good person would be so concerned about hell. My hunch is you'll be all right.

May God continue to bless you on your journey with Him - and I will pray for you too!

The only way you won't fear going to hell is to accept Jesus Christ into your heart. You're not going to Heaven if your sinning. You go to Heaven if you admit that your wrong and ask God to forgive you. One thing you can do is start reading the bible. It will give you a better perspective on Christianity. I don't mean to be mean but thats the truth about hell.

Believe that God's only Son, Jesus Christ was born, lived the perfect life, suffered, died & rose from the dead *for you* to save you from sin death (hell) & the power of the devil.

Read Matthew 16:16. In your Holy Baptism you were connected to Christ in His death (the wages of sin--spiritual death of going to hell like you are afraid of) by water & God's Word, "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:18-20). In this way God made you one of His children.

Unfortunately, because we are still in sinful bodies, we forget that Christ has died to save us from sin, death & the power of the devil & we need to be reminded of that every Sunday. That's why it is important to go to church. If you, as a person terrified of hell are being told that you have to do something other than merely believe the promises God made to you at your Baptism, you're not hearing God's Good News for you & you need to find a faithful church who will preach to you God's Word (Law & Gospel properly distinguished) & give you God's Sacrament (Holy Baptism once & Holy Communion consistently after you've been properly taught in the faith).

Please read this pamphlet (below in the "source" box) about the truth of Holy Baptism. I think that once you understand what God has done for you there, your fears will be relieved. But please for your sake also try to find a church like I describe above so you will not forget God's Good News for you. (http://www.lcms.org/ca/www/locators/nchurches/church.asp)

On this web page there is an audio archive of a radio show on October 22, 2007 titled "God's Law & God's Gospel". I think this would be helpful to you (http://www.kfuoam.org/ie_archive_Oct_07.htm).

Have faith in Jesus! I went though a rough time in what I believed in, I went through guilt and depression. I knew that I was a sinner and kept on looking at how bad I was. Friends and family couldn't see that I was a "bad person". It took me awhile to cling onto my faith and to change. I recommited my life to God, and really accepted Jesus in my life. Being a Christian is not about religion, it's a way of life.

God knows your heart. Maybe the Holy Spirit is convicting you. He will lead you to the truth... But it's Satan who condemns you. He will always put doubt and negativity in our minds that all things are hopeless. Don't believe him because he is a liar!

Pray to God about everything and read the bible. Don't look at yourself, but look at what Jesus has done and cling to the promises of God.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:20 "But I warn you - unless you obey God better than the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees do, you can't enter the Kingdom of Heaven at all!" (NIV). We need to compare everything what we hear or tought in Church with the Holy Bible. The Kingdom of God starts within your heart.

I felt the same exact way you did. Raised Catholic, received all the sacraments, and all that jazz...

hard to explain but when i decided to leave the Church at 16 I felt happy about myself. Sort of like everything I ever learned as a Catholic was gone when I stopped being in that environment. I'm happy now doing the things I like and don't need religion dictating my life.

If or when you decide to leave the Catholic faith all of your beliefs will just go away.

You can still be a good Catholic and not agree with everything.
Having a personal relationship with Jesus will help you get rid of your fear of going to hell. With Jesus as our friend, we have noting else to fear. You enable this relationship, like you do with any friendship, you try your best to communicate and be with that person.
Going to Mass is very important in showing Jesus we care for Him. Communion is a way that Jesus gave us to enable Him to be with us.
Talking to Jesus every day is also important.
