There is nothing to believe in. Even before I was Muslim I didn't believe in it. I only participated for cultural reasons and I no longer do that either.

There are very few religions that actually take October 31st as a religious holiday. Islam isn't one of them.

Having said that, are there some Muslims who celebrate Halloween? Sure, there are Americans of all kinds of religions who celebrate Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, Valentine's, and other secular, cultural holidays.

No. Muslims don't celebrate any holidays that have Pagan origins or are made by non Muslims. It's against our religion because it will make us just like the Kaafurs and we aren't supposed to imitate the Non Muslims in manner, speech, customs or dress.

Why would we "believe" in Halloween? What to believe? That over the years a pagan festival of Hallows Eve has become commercialized and makes money $5 billion each year in America alone? Again whats to believe in?

He did not ask did we partake in Halloween or join in the fun. He asked if we "believed" in it.
My daughter dressed up as a Spider Queen and had a party at her grandmothers house. She did not go trick or treating as i was not allowed to and when my parents where young they where not allowed too (for safety of strangers who would take advantage of children on such a night. Not that they where being mean) . But growing up in Scotland we always dressed up for Halloween at school, dooked for apples, had fancy dress contests, we would go into our neighbors home and do a "turn" sing a song, say a poem, do a dance, and i always loved the witches cakes that had the big cream cheeks in the bakers window.
SO yes we know there is a big world out there thank you very much and assumptions make an *** out of you......

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Hello. Muslims who are knowledgeable about their religion do not celebrate Halloween. Its origins are pagan and then when the Church could not stamp out the pagan practices, they coopted them (as they did with Christmas) in order to make it more palatable to the Christians of Europe.

I have a son who is of trick-or-treating age and he is very matter of fact about the fact that we do not celebrate Halloween. It does not "traumatize" him or make him feel left out. He still plays with his friends, but doesn't go trick or treating with them. He goes to Tae Kwan Do, eats lollipops that I get from the store, lives a full and happy life. To assume, as some people do, that a child who doesn't celebrate Halloween is somehow losing out is ridiculous. My son also doesn't celebrate Kwanzaa, Purim, Passover, or Diwali. Each religion or culture has its own celebrations and we participate in ours and do not participate in those which are against our religious beliefs. This is part of the diversity that is America and it should not cause any heartburn for others. And Allah knows best.

May Allah guide you to the best in this world and the next. Ameen.

Fi Aman Allah,

Nancy Umm Abdel Hamid

I'd like to know if Muslims can suspend their rigid, strict religious rules long enough to experience the fun of giving candy to little kids and watching them skip off down the street in immeasurable glee in their over-sized costumes.

There's a world out there, all around, that has nothing to do with religion but is no less real and happening.

I am pretty sure they do not believe in Holloween as one of the pilars of Islam. And I know Muslims who celebrate it. Why with all the negativity?
