You can put a whole potato in shallow water...the eyes on the potato grow roots...or cut an eye about an inch thick off a potato and set it half covered in water, roots start growing in about 4 days and then can be planted in dirt.

If you let a potato just sit around for weeks, it will sprout stems that you can break off and plant in the ground. I've done that with red potatio and sweet potato and its flourishing.

a potato....the part that you cut up and turn into chips, mash potato, roast potatoes etc, is a root itself.......it will sprout little shoots etc........im pretty sure thats right!
