I am doing a 5 minute speech on Pope John Paul the second.
I've always admired him, but now that it comes time to writing about him, I realize I don't know much at all. Can you give me a topic of his I can go into detail about! I Really want to find out what he really ment when he chose the phrase "Be Not Afraid" I'd like to find out more about that. So, any suggestions, or information would be great. Thank you.

I'll look into seriously, I teach Catechism. so just email me and I'll see if I can find some references on the net. You could just try googling it. One of the most interesting things I know about him is that he felt guilty because he didn't think he did enough to help the Jews in poland in wwII. Although I don't even know he was a priest then.

here's some more quotes: " For God did not destine us for wrath, but to gain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live together with him.

...Brothers, admonish the idle, cheer the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with all. See that no one returns evil for evil, rather always seek what is good for each other and for all. Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophetic utterances. Test everything; retain what is good. Refrain from every kind of evil.

May the God of peace make you perfectly holy and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body, be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will accomplish it.

Here is also an article written by a well known anti-theist. I'd advise you read this too , so You would understand how many people in the world view us (christians) and him (Pope JP II)

write about when he was shooted and was saved from death by our Lady of Fatima. What is more important is that he forgave the one who tried to kill him and visited him in jail.
