Are you embarrassed by a church that would carry signs like "Thank God for dead soldiers" and "God hates fags." The majority of Christians would never behave like this, do you agree?

tuyet n:

I am an atheist, but I am going to take a break for awhile so that I can pray for you. There is a special corner in hell for people like you brother. This behavior, and your response, DOES NOT represent 99% of Christians.

simple, they are not true christians...
EDIT: TUYET, I usually don't do that, but in your case I will make an exception. Your very existence is an affront to those who served this country and died for it, you arrogant and ignorant fool. You are so full of hate, anger and venom you can't see straight. FYI "death from above" is motto of the 101st Airborne where I served. By being on the side of human slime and scum like the Westboro church members you are pissing on the graves of those who died so that you can spew your hate. Now, go and crawl under a rock, you litle worm... hope this helped you...

I think it's about time that someone took some serious action against Freddy and the Offenders!
I honestly don't see Jesus picketing funerals, do you?
He might warn homosexuals to "go and sin no more"...but to the rest of us He says "let the one among you who has no sin be the first to pick up that picket sign"....

Am I embarrassed? I suppose, in a way, I am embarrassed that ANY human being could be so hateful...
But I should think that most folks do realize that the Westboro crew do not represent Christians, or Christ.
Anyone who thinks that Christ would ever command or condone such behavior ought to be embarrassed, themselves, even (or maybe especially) if they are atheists...don't atheists constantly claim that they know more about Christianity than most Christians? If that is really true, then they surely ought to know that Christ's one and only command, given in His Own right as our Messiah, is that we love one another, with the sort of love He, Himself modeled for us.
In fact, He says, the world would recognize His disciples by the love that they have, one for the other...

They do know this, don't they?

Of course, it's embarrassing. But I've been a Christian all my life, and haven't personally met anybody yet that supports the Westboro Baptist Church (which is predominantly made up of one family). I do feel that there is definitely a time and place for demonstrations and exercising one's freedom of speech, and I've taken part in a number of protests, but funerals are certainly not that time and place.

What these people do is not following the bible but doing what suits their own evil minds. Christians never go out and do this kind of stuff and a Christians will be there to help and offer support and not put people down. God came to save people when he sent his Sn to die for us and so we need to tell people of God's love and not be rude and interrupt people wishes.
(As I understand it is basically a church of basically of a few families intermarried to each other if I am right)

I find that to be horrible. I cannot look at them as Christians. If they do not like something, turn the other cheek. They should not be harming people like that. And God loves all his children. Many of the things they preach and spread does not even make sense.

Insensitive, rude and not the acts of showing love to one's enemies. I am not surprised at the family's anger in this case.

Let people have the dignity, the time to deal with their sorrow.

Instead of browbeating such show some solidarity in their sorrow for this sad thing.

Yes, and the saddest part is that so many people believe these people represent the majority of Christians.

I agree. But then Jesus said, "Not all who cry "Lord Lord" will enter into the kingdom of heaven." People who engage in this sort of public display are seeking attention to shore up their own self-image. Jesus isn't glorified by such behaviour.

I think they got what they deserved, an 11 million dollar judgment against them. I only hope and pray that the judgment is not overturned.

I don't think it's the church who is demonstrating, it's "Demonstrator's".
The "American Freedom of Speech" is sometimes (most times!) too much and unfortunately America caters to the minorities.
