How do YOU feel about lowering the drinking age to 18? And why do you feel this way. I would also like you to include your general age group while answering.
* P.S I am over 21 and I am just curious, not looking for anyone to take my stance ( which will remain ominous ) , interested in some fresh opinions and hearing what my peers have to say :)
Thanks all !

I'm 21, and I do not think it should be lowered because most people's brains don't full develop until they're about 25 and if alcohol is taken while the brain is developing, it will inhibit their reasoning and decision-making skills (frontal lobe functions) permanently. It's one of the most dangerous substances you can put in your body. People don't seem to think this is true since it's legal, but legality is political and has nothing to do with classifying a substance's risk potential.

Nope, I don't think this is a good idea at all.

I'm from the UK and the drinking age here is 18 and this causes a lot of problems in society. It's been suggested that we raise the drinking age to 21. I think you guys have got it right.

A little thing some military men probably don't tell you for the "ability get shot, but not allowed to drink yourself into an oblivion..." is that most bars will serve a military person alcohol, mostly when they are in uniform.

it would be one of the worst mistakes ever. the youths that our society is cranking out today already lack the life skills, education and social skills to cope in the world today. giving them the legal oppurtunity to self-medicate at will would be disastrous. the numbers for teens killed in DUI related crashes would probably triple in 5 years as well.
