Limewire is a peer to peer application. This means that you share your hard drive with others on the internet, and they copy things from your hard drive while you copy from theirs. There is no central authority and no way to verify that files are what they say they are, so a large number are infested with viruses and other malware. Using Limewire, or anything else, to download music, movies and software is illegal; however, that's what most people use it for. These illegal files are even more likely to be infected. Keep in mind that if you avoid infection (which is doubtful) you're still vulnerable to lawsuits and prosecution if you download illegally. The law sets the minimum fine at $750.00 per file downloaded, with a maximum of $150,000.00 per file. A jury in Minnesota recently found a woman guilty of illegally downloading 24 songs. They set her fine at $9,000.00 per song.

Having limewire on your computer doesn't make it run slower, nor does it cause viruses. You may get a computer virus from some of the things you download from limewire, though.

Yes it can. Limewire shouldn't have any viruses, but what you down load can. And the more you down load, the better the chance of a virus. Also the more you down load the more space you take up on your computers hard drive. Thus making it run slower.

it does not give you viruses it is detected by anti viruses as a virus when it really isnt.
It can give you viruses if you dont know what your doing and download the wrong stuff.
It can slow down your computer but thats only if the program is running and downloading stuff. Basicly it only slows it down if ur trying to multitask and are downloading large files.
Also youve got to be careful if ur downloading songs because P2P networks like limewire are really getting pounded by the government going after people illegally downloading music.

Limewire does not contain viruses in and of itself nor does it slow down your computer. However, the files you download through Limewire may very well be virus or spyware laden and these will definitely slow down your computer.

Limewire is fine, its what you download from it that can cause virus infection, make sure you have a good antivirus program and keep it update, you can still catch them so its down to common sense and caution to stay clean.

It will make your computer slow because if you do not set the parameters correctly everyone has access to your computer and will download all of your songs.
The viruses are caused by the garbage that is downloaded.
