"Robbery is the crime of seizing property through violence or intimidation. More precisely, at common law, robbery was defined as taking the property of another, with the intent to permanently deprive the person of that property, by means of force or fear. It should be noted, in common with most legal terms, the precise definition of robbery varies between jurisdictions. Robbery is also when there is forced intimidation placed upon the victim/victims".
Theft is stealing without force or fear. Like stealing a parked car.

Most states have a slight variation on the definition of both. In PA, you can be charged with robbery if in the course of committing a theft:
1. threatens another or intentionally puts a person in fear of immediate serious bodily injury,
2. inflicts serious bodily injury
3. committs or threatens to commit any felony of the first or second degree
4. physically takes or removes property from the person of another by force however slight

no. Robbery is when you illegally gain access to a person's private belongings or possessions, IE: car, home store etc: then you take something. In short, when you burguralize.
Theft is if you steal in an open place, that isn't locked or guarded, IE: wallet, store (unless the store is closed to the public, then it's B.and E class e felony in most states) even if you take a pet from another person and the pet was outside in the street, that's theft. Aggrevated theft is more applicable to young kids, peer pressure or an adult who has an attorney that can prove a mental defect was a cause of the crime, like people who are bi-polar, in the manic stage can and are prone to clepto-mania.
Robbery can be a felony if over $100.00 is the value and theft/petty theft are generally misdomeanors.

Robbery includes an element of force. If I take your wallet, it's theft. If I punch you and take your wallet, it's robbery.
