I've been looking at airsoft guns on many sites. But on shortyusa.com it says the utg ak-74's fps is like 350 with a 150 ft range but on airsoftgi.com says it's like 300 fps and 100 ft range. Which company is right? Is that company usually more accurate?

neither company is right. The gun was actually tested by a cronograph machine(tells fps) and it came out at about 335fps and can hit people 100ft away with a couple of semi auto shots. Leaves nice welts on people too. it goes out too like 150-200ft and then drops. hope this helps.

Airsoft guns are horrible. Id say its more like 20 ft per second with a range of 30 ft.

um research on different sites usually the cheap guns are over empasized, find some big reviews on the gun, not what a recent buyer said. airsplat and affordable airsoft lie about cheaperguns fps, but redwolf airsoft is more accurate, but look at review sites before anything. it is probably around 235 my friend, actually two, has one and its a good gun for a cheap one.

My guess, before reading your whole question was 300. They are pretty light, so wind resistence would slow them down rather quickly.
