Avira is excellent but the free one doesn't scan your email

clam anti-virus. It's designed to catch NEW viruses (deviations of existing ones) by scanning for virus pattern not just scanning against a database.

AVG antivirus: without a doubt!
I even went on and paid for it thats how good it is! (and I am tighter than a yorkshireman avoiding paying for a round in the pub!)

It monitors your system, unlike most free anti-virus programs.
