Do I qualify for the lap band?

I have been dieting ALL of my life, even when I didn't need to and I feel that this procedure would be good for me. I am 35 years old and I am pretty active, however I feel like my weight is holding me back from the life that I could be living. I am 5 ft. 4in. tall and I am about 85 pounds overweight...do I qualify?

when I didn't need to.." argues strongly that your
problem is psychological rather than physical, and
should be treated behaviorally rather than surgically.

You need to talk to a doctor about this. I know that our local hospital has meetings for weight loss surgery frequently, so you may want to see if yours does the same.

Typically, a person must be morbidly obese - have a BMI of over 35 or be 100 lbs overweight.

It's a severe surgery that should be a last resort. It's for when diets and exercise have failed and your life is at risk due to your weight.

if you have been dieting for your whole life then you have been dieting incorrectly the entire time. being that you are already underweight no Dr. is going to peform lap band surgery on a 5'4 85 lb woman

believe it or not, the lap band is very unhealthy for you, because it leaves you with a lot of excess skin where there used to be fat. and 85 pounds will leave a lot of excess skin hanging off of you.

like one of those really wrinkly dogs.

To qualify for a lap band you must first learn to lap dance.

If you can dance good, the band will invite you to join them.
