While "Spam" by "Hormel Foods" seems like the most logical answer, it isn't.
The earliest predecessor to Spam was 'Hormel Flavor Sealed' Ham, which was created in 1926. The modern Spam itself was created in 1937 as Hormel 'Spiced Ham'.
This was a good 2 years before the war started and over 4 years until America got involved. Spam was created at the time when America was isolationist and unwilling to get involved in any more European wars, and Spam was marketed mainly towards civilians - it was just a good stroke of luck that it suited military use too.
Maybe "Spam" by "Hormel Foods" is the closest answer to your question, but it certainly doesn't meet your criteria, I'm afraid (contrary to what all those people repeating the same answer may imply).

till you shape your hamburgers into little cows, you do a similar element, do no longer you? Do you depart the heads, tails, and legs on your shrimp? little or no of the beef that individuals devour honestly sounds like an animal. i do no longer know why you think of shaping soy, wheat, or mushrooms into little tubes and patties is any distinctive from doing it with chicken, cow, or pig. That being suggested, a dislike for meat isn't the only rationalization for being vegetarian. people who hate the feel, flavor, shape, and dishes that comprise meat in all probability won't in any respect be ingesting meatless selections. those human beings who desperate that between the various ethical or wellness reward of going veg grew to become into compelling sufficient to resign something we enjoyed welcome the concepts. there's a humorous tale that asserts, "i'm no longer a vegetarian because of the fact i admire animals; i'm a vegetarian because of the fact I hate plant life." In all seriousness, nonetheless, lots of human beings make sacrifices for what they have self assurance in. some human beings end ingesting meat. some human beings end buying at Wal-Mart. some human beings supply up applying everywhere. they do no longer try this because of the fact they do no longer only like the flavor of meat, low-fee costs, or convenience. They do it because of the fact they locate something objectionable on the subject of the practice and do no longer decide to make a contribution in the direction of it anymore.
