I was stopped at a red light and a car rear-ended me, he was charged with Careless driving. However, I'm only 19 years old and I never got my license. I never went to the DMV to get a license. Will I be held responsible for the repairs of BOTH cars, even though it is stated in the police report that the other person was at fault and charged with careless driving ?????

No.

However you may receive a ticket for driving with out a license and the person whose car you were driving may be invited to get insurance with another company now that his company knows he lets unlicensed (ie illegal) drivers use his car.

It depends a lot on where you are, since the law varies by state. In some if you were out there driving without a license, you are at fault no matter what, and can not collect anything from anyone else since you shouldn't have been there in the first place.

If the officer that investigated the accident is aware you don't have a license, you may be getting ticketed for that.

This is one you will just have to wait and see what happens.

You are lucky that you didn't get arrested! If you don't have a license or insurance (which I assume you don't if you don't have a license) you could have been arrested on the spot. I don't know about what you will have to pay for the damages, but you probably won't be able to get your license for a year now, and if they run it through the system and find out that you have no license, you will most likely get a fine and community service. Sorry, but you should have just gotten your license before you started driving around...

You won't be charged with the accident, but they will probably find out you don;t have a license and be charged with operating a vehicle without a license. The other insurance company is going to ask for your info in order to get the car fixed.

Nope, your driving illegally doesn't affect the FAULT of the accident.

Now, you'll likely get fined, and so can the owner of the car, and you MIGHT have to go to court. But the other guy is still at fault for the accident.

Keep in mind, police do NOT determine fault - but if you were stopped at a light and got rearended, I'd agree - the other guy was at fault.

Probably not fully responsible, but at least fifty percent culpable. Sorry, but you shouldn't be driving without proper license, registration and insurance coverage. Good luck!

You can be charged for both cars because you were illegally operating a vechicle. Not to mention you couldn't possibly be carrying car insurance.

I wish you luck.
