Why are US Christians THE strongest supporters of their country's wars?

Are you seriously denying that Bush's strongest supporters arent religious Christians?

BTW the vast majority of Muslims utterly condemn acts of terror and killing civilians - while the majority of US christians cheer on their countries terror bombing and shock and awe - and the killing of heathen civilians they call "collateral damage". Which Christian group condemned the death of Muslim civilians by the US?

"How much candy did you feed your children to celebrate the WTC attacks?"

None I donated money and gave blood for the victims. How much candy did you give your kids when the US started bombing Iraq?

True Christianity is peaceful. Most Christians merely believe that our country is in danger and the bible does give governments the right and power to protect themselves.

The test of Christianity being peaceful is in the individual members and few, very few individuals are violent. Some church doctrines can be violent but that is not representative of Christianity as a whole.

Don't judge all Christians due to the war in Iraq please.

Not going to war is sometimes far far more evil then going to war.

Anyone that says war is never the answer is an ignorant idiot.

Tons of churches spoke out against the Iraq war, so I dont know what you are talking about or where you get your info from.

There is more than one issue when supporting a president.

If the Iraq war creates in say 10 years a peaceful, democratic, western friendly nation, where terrorists arent tolerated and the country is helpful in stopping nations like Iran and further terrorists attacks from happening, then is that not an end result of peace?

Sometimes to achieve peace you must go to war. You can only have peace when all sides are willing.

It can be peaceful. Can't remember the exact statistics off the top of my head but there are many new denominations emerging everyday. Being that religion is often perverted into a weapon, there are bound to be some extremely violent and hostile "Chrisitans". At the same time there are many good Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus more closely.

To answer your question "Why are US Christians THE strongest supporters of their country's wars?", I would say the answer is Fear.

Again, not all Christians support war.

Wrong. Poor generalization. You could replace Christian with Muslims and it would make about the same amount of logical sense. I am a Christian, and I don't support the war. I think we should get the heck out of dodge.
Nice try at slamming the Christians (who I will never claim are perfect), but next time at least choose an intelligent argument.

And the strongest opponents, you forgot to add.
And does your premise hold water when you consider that the Christian population world-wide is ten times larger than the entire population of the United States?

Christianity is a religion of justice and love, sometimes this must manifest itself in violence for the protection and obligation of these tenets.

Jesus said in His great sermon on the mount, "Blessed are the peacemakers". To be a "peacemaker" requires action.

You're confused. ISLAM claims that lying distinction. Jesus said that He was bringing a sword, to set father against son and mother against daughter. we ARE to turn the other cheek, but that's to say 'you think that could hurt ME???'

Christianity has always fought against immorality. Why should you be surprised that we should fight against those who with evil in their hearts, attacked us?

Today, Muslim terrorists tossed a hand grenade into a crowd of civilians in Baghdad and drove away. Why don't you complain about THEM???

I'm in the military and i will not and can not speak against the president. when i was deployed...i threw politics out the window and actually helped people who were being murdered by their own people. so saying that; yes, i do support the war. but for only human rights. those people shouldn't have to go through the things they go through.

Christians tend to think that its okay to do anything, no matter how atrocious or illogical, as long as they get permission from their magic sky daddy. And if you look at Christianity historically, it definitely doesn't seem like a religion of peace. It actually seems to be a religion very popular among imperialists and war mongers.
