I applied to a job that is 2 hours away from where I live and commuting everyday would kill me. I was telling my wife I really need this job because it is a step up from what I am doing and I would be working with the same company. I dont want her to move and leave her job so I suggested I could live in my car for six months just so I could get the training and be able to get a good job when we move out of state next year. She thinks Im crazy but there is no way I can afford to pay for a hotel or a place to live. My work place has a gym, a cafeteria, and showers. I have a sports utility vehicle with enough room to lay out a mattress. I could work, work out at the gym, shower, have dinner, study the new material at the restaurant, brush my teeth, then go to sleep. In the morning I could shower and go to work. I could go home on Friday in the afternoon and go back to work Monday morning. What do you think?

I think u r kidding, what a work place that has all these facilities
well, leaving your wife for six months isnt a good idea, soo keep visting her weekly (as you said)
if sleeping in a car is secure... I think there is no problem, you can even carry a laptop with u , and using a webcam and a free software you can make an alarm system(if the camera detects a movements the laptop will play an audio which will wake you up)
you can use eyecovers that the sun doesnt wake u up in the morning
but the idea is still crazy, good luck anyway

I think my first question would be why you would even apply for this job and make these types of plans without even talking to your wife about it first?
What I really think is that the two of you need to get together and find some common ground that you can both agree on. Marriage is about give and take. Sometimes you have to give a little to meet in the middle.
But considering that all of the answers that have spoken against this idea has already gotten a thumbs down, I am probably wasting my time typing it.
I do wish you AND your wife all the best!

If you really want to go to this job, I think you should explore the options of renting a room. Even if this is a small town, there may be availability from a young couple or an elderly person/couple. You'll have some privacy and be able to sleep much better. My Dad did this for 1 year when all us kids were young. He got a better job back where we lived and we were all set.

i've got honestly carried out the two. What sucks approximately doing only the motor vehicle element is whether you have a job, you may desire some style of mailing handle, snoozing sucks, theres no alarm clock, no longer something to do yet pay attention to the radio. on the different, what sucks approximately no longer having a vehicle is that whether you have a job it woudl require a vehicle. This situation could nicely be resolved nonetheless in case you reside close by and are interior of walking distance. Having a house with television, bathe, privateness, and a place to "start up" is lots extra advantageous than residing out of your vehicle reason you may decide to locate a house besides. So do away with the motor vehicle and locate something in the section. I have been given a DWI awhile in the past and characteristic been without a vehicle for a pair years, you get used to it reason human beings furnish you with rides and you shop an outstanding purchase of funds from coverage and gasoline, applying a motorcycle feels lots extra advantageous. even once I had my vehicle lower back then, I didnt do lots with it. i could desire to have used a motorcycle to flow down the line for a pizza. So in different phrases, you will definately have the ability to improvise in case you dont have a vehicle so flow with that decision. Its somewhat no longer ordinary to sleep in a vehicle. And to boot you are able to continually use a pals vehicle to get to a job in case you additionally could make that affiliation.

In most jurisdictions there are generally ordinances against sleeping in a passenger car. Also, how would it look to your boss were he to find out that you were behaving like a homeless person just to save $? I would suggest trading your car for truck with camper module, and finding a KOA campground nearby the business. KOA has showers and electrical hookup and will accomodate trucks with campers.

I am super sure you are kidding. But lets assume you are not. I would be OK with your decision if you were single. But you are married and it would definitely destroy your marriage. Try searching for another job in your area that fits what you really want.
Good Luck

I think that the police might start harrassing you... living in a car is close to vagrancy... Just be careful.
