Why be afraid of a beaten army?

Today would be correctly called the cross-quarter day between the autumnal equinox and the winter solstice. In the distant past, it was considered the first night of the winter season (at a time when only two seasons were recognized; winter and summer).

Also, I would surely like to know where you got the concept that Hell is close to the mortal relm. There are many who consider this the night to be a time when the veil between the world of the living and that of the dead is at it's thinnest, but since that is a decidedly non-Christian concept, and Hell is a decidedly Christian concept, the question is non-sequitur.

No, the vernal equinox is on March 21. The autumnal
equinox was on September 21.

I am not afraid of anything like that. Halloween is a fun holiday for kids to go beg for candy.

Thanks for the info!

Tonight is not the vernal equinox. That is next spring.
I would not expect a person who still believes in hell, witches, and goblins to know that, though.

Vernal Equinox? I hope they know better than that.

Otherwise the rest sound good.
