This is really interesting as I have a 6 month old kittens that still feeds from Mum very occassionally. Mum is due to be spayed soon so I assume it will stop then, as mentioned above. You really ought to have Mum spayed to stop more kittens coming. We breed Bengals so our litter was deliberate, but I feel so guilty about all the kittens in rescue centres with no homes we've decided to stop doing it. Even if the kitten does continue to go through the motions after spaying, there's no harm in it. I think I'd be pleased they are still getting along! We wanted to keep one of our kittens bit as she got older she fought with Mum so much we ended up selling her anyway!

PLEASE get the mother cat spayed!!! This will stop her producing milk.
Mammals continue to produce milk as long as they are being suckled from - including humans. Kittens that are still suckling at this age are just doing it for the comfort/habit.
The mother cat needs to be spayed - it should have been done as soon as the kitten was weaned. You're risking her having more kittens i.e taking up more desperately needed homes. You are also risking your cat having ovarian, mammary or cervical cancer, and putting her at quite high risk of getting a pyometra (uterine infection, potentially fatal). Please spay her for her own health - and for the good of the cat population in general.

As long as he continues to feed your kittens mom will continue to produce milk. It would be a good idea to seperate them for a while, long enough that the mother stops producing milk and the kittend stops looking for a mothers teet.

I don't think there is any harm in the cat continuing to nurse off of his mom. If mom is not spayed get her spayed. But spaying may not stop this. Years ago we had a cat that continued to go through the motions of feeding off her mom even after both mom and daughter were spayed.

its a habit hes got into all you can do is just gently push him away from her.has the mum still got milk? if she has doing this will give it time to dry up and the kitten will then lose interest.if she dosent have milk hes just using her as a dummy so pushing him away each time will break the habit.

Lol, sounds like one of those mothers who feeds their human child until they're 6 or more.
The only thing I can think is remove him every time he does it. Maybe 'punish' him somehow too - not too harshly, but just something he doesn't like (don't go swimming him around by the tail or anything like that).
