since you are a US citizen the answer is yes. understand though that your background check will be a lot more intense than someone who was born in the United States for the reason that many of your relatives probably still have ties to that country. You might not be allowed to have a job that requires a top secret clearance, but i am almost positive that you could enlist

No it’s not a problem because you are a citizen. Hey if you speak the language, and know the Afghan culture, the Army will beg for you to join and you will get some very nice bonuses.

if you speak any of the dialects (sp?) spoken in Afghanistan, then the Army would definitely take you. An Army trained, U.S. raised interpreter is 100 times more reliable than the ones we hire from the local area. The MOS code is O9L for interpreters and they get a hefty bonus when they sign up.....look into it.

Absolutely. You need only be a perm resident. Since you are fully a citizen then there is no restriction at all. In fact, if you still got some language skills they'll pay you a bit extra.

You can defiantly join if you speak Farsi, join as an interpreter. Demand a signing bonus! You may have trouble getting a high security clearance, but should have no problem with getting a Secret one. You'll get incentive pays and large reenlistment bonuses. Good luck!

Yes it is possible. Look at how many Germans and Italians fought valiantly for this country during WWII.

Can't imagine why they wouldn't take you. If you speak Farsi, they'd most likely take you citizen or not, on or off the books, if you are willing to do their bidding with the local Afghani population.
