No.
They should stay home.
Don't put them in the trunk either because I am sure that is your next question.

Jeez.
NO.
But I see people do it all the time. Driving with a little dog all up in their grill. I "love" it when another dog passes by in a car and the little dogs explode into barking fits right in the drivers face. You have to wonder about the basic intelligence of a supposed adult who would think that its perfectly reasonable to have two furry projectiles bouncing all over them WHILE they are driving a speeding 2 ton steel, plastic and glass projectile.
The worst part is the incredible SELF ABSORBTION of RISKING OTHER PEOPLES LIVES FOR YOUR OWN SELFISH CHILDISH STUPIDITY.
Now, I realize that you may be asking this question in a rhetorical fashion and NOT asking for yourself or your own actions, so I wont attack you personally, no one should really be jumped on on the site for asking a question, but still.
But if ANY OF YOU OUT THERE KNOW SOMEONE WHO DOES THIS AND YOU DONT CHECK THEM AND CALL THEM OUT FOR BEING ***HOLES AND RISKING OTHER
PEOPLES LIVES YOU ARE JUST AS AT FAULT.
And you're out there, you have girlfriends that think they're Paris Hilton and think its cute to have some little dog squished under their arm, or perched on their shoulder and think its perfectly okay. I got out of a friend of a friends mother's car when she insisted on driving with her dog jammed between her and steering wheel, she had difficulty just getting out of the parking lot because of interference from the awkward position. She caught a 'tude, I told her to go get screwed because my life meant more to me than her arrogance.
This is plain common sense, it boggles the mind that people HAVE to be told this isnt okay.
Doesnt say much for our survival as a species does it?

If my dog is in the car she is on my shoulder there is nothing i can do about it i take her off she gets right back up there. It doesnt bother me for the most part so as long as you can drive and you think you are driving safe than you are ok :)

Absolutely not you are not only putting others at risk but if you get in a accident those little dogs wouldn't stand a chance. Very very unsafe and not a very responsible dog owner.

No, I actually bought a really cheap mini van for $1500.00 it doesn't always go into reverse, so I must park carefully. But I bought the van to haul my dogs in because I was tired of them trying to get up in the front seats of our cars & my husband complained about the upholstry..blah,blah,blah. So, now I can take them to the lake and out with me without them jumping up front. Each one has claimed their own bench seat in the back of the van. Plus they can shed all they want back there, and I don't have to here a peep from my hubby about it.

i have a 6.5 Lbs chihuahua who sits on my shoulder when i drive and its hard for me to look out at my blind spot when changing lanes and i cant lean forward even and inch. so 2 i would believe would be very difficult and safe NO its not. i know that and i try very hard to put her in a traveling creat buckled in. if there was an acciedent she would either go out the window, get crushed by the airbag or fall down next to the seat and door where she would be crushed so 5 minutes car trips only, but to your question...ABOLUTELY NOT SAFE!!!

No way! Keep your dogs in a carrier or dog seatbelt in the car! Not only does letting them sit on you distract your concentration, but in an accident, neither of them are restrained and could easily get injured or killed!

Little dogs would be worse than big dogs, I think. I have 2 big dogs and I have enough trouble keeping them in the backseat while I drive.

No, for starters they could distract you and you could have an accident.
And secondly if you do have an accident your dogs should be wearing harnesses that can be secured to the seat belts so they don't go through the windscreen on impact.

Of course it is not. The dogs could do any number of things
to distract you. You could have an accident, kill yourself, your
dogs and heaven forbid someone else. Or you could be a
cripple for life. Think before you drive!!

sorry but no, not for you or them they could cause a distraction for you. also, if they are on your shoulders they will go straight into or thru the windshield in case of an accident.
they make crates, or you can use one of the harnesses that is made to clip into a seat belt for the best safety. i have to admit, though, mine sits in the back seat of the car or on the bench of the truck....i need to get her a harness myself....
