Whenever this wicked weather called cold comes to my city, my lips get really red and they hurt. They are constantly peeling, it even hurts to laugh or smile. Please help!

carmex- in a tube. its amazing and looks glossy and you can apply it then apply color with lipstick, lip gloss, etc... and when it all starts to wear off, just put some more back on.
burt's bees works but it doesnt last as long as carmex does.

you can buy both at a walgreens or any drug store. look carmex up online to see what it looks like- but ill bet you its in the impulse isles- the ones right near the registers- if it isnt, ask for help its worth it.

ps. treating the problem is a good idea but try finding the problem's source. cold/dry weather dries up your lips- so beat it by drinking lots of water and keeping your lips conditioned all the time so they dont crack so horribly when they get dry.

First exfoliate your lips with vaseline and sugar (salt will only irritate skin). Dip your finger into the vaseline to get a dab of it and sprinkle a little sugar on it. Rub gently onto your lips for about a minute or less ( you can also use a toothbrush if you don't want to use sugar). Wipe it off with a tissue. Do this once a week. Use a lip balm throughout the day to keep lips moist. What also helps me a lot is before I go to bed, I apply a little vaseline on my lips, for some overnight moisture.

i agree with carmex. but also try to exfoliate your lips to help with the peeling... I'm not sure what the best product for that would be but maybe a little salt with Vaseline or something of that nature--- to ruff off the dead skin and then constantly keep them moisturized. Another thing--- dry lips are often a sign of dehydration so pump up your intake of water.

I would stray away from Carmex. It has menthol which will make you think it is doing something (because of the tingle) but it will actually dry out your lips more. This goes for the Burt's Bees (beeswax) one too. Burt's does have a lip balm that is pomegranate which does not contain menthol.

I would also not recommend vasaline because petrolium isn't good for you.
I highly suggest using this: http://www.vitasprings.com/vitamin-c-lip-balm-avalon-organics.html

It is an organic balm with vitamin c (natural skin protectant) and essential oils.

When you put your moisturizer on, rub some onto your lips. Follow with a good balm like Smith's Rosebud salve (www.sephora.com). In the event that they feel dry during the day, resist the urge to lick or bite them, this will only make things worse. Keep some gloss in your purse to touch up during the day.

I tried carmex, and it completely stripped the natural oils I had left....
The only thing that provides me with some relief is organic olive oil, that I use for cooking, at night and throughout the day. I also use lanolin. Lanolin seals the lips for a lot longer than any balm for me. Make sure you drink water and use a humidifier if your house is dry. Some people are allergic to lanolin - may want to try some on your arm for reactions.

Oh, i used to have that problem too! brush ur lips with a toothbrush when you brush your teeth. Find a good lip gloss and re apply about every 2 hours to keep ur lips hydrated. I like the aquafina kind and it only costs a dollar if you can find it at the dollar store. i reccomend not using lip smackers because they generally make my problem worse. Good luck!

its always important to have soft lips that look so cute! it doesnt matter if you have jlo's thin lips or lips like angelina..i suggest you use burts bees or carmex...blistex works well too..for people under the budget, you can use petroleum jelly.if you want a tinge of mint or scent to int, you can add few drops of mint or eucalyptus oil.. carry it in your purse or wallet all the time so you can apply it liberally everytime you feel the need..drinking lots of water helps too...

BLISTEX cream in tube at local drugstore, applied several times daily, if not under your lipstick (providing you're a female?!) and before bed at night...best stuff around. Husband I've used it for years successfully...

Grace

PS you're right, cold weather seems to irritate more than hot...

Burts Bees has the best stuff that helps cracked skin. Or even vasaline will do a quick heal. Keep stuff on them constantly!
