I am more inclined to believe people who claim to be demon possessed, or have been told my religious folks that they are or once were demon possessed just simply had some mental disorder, chemical imballance or mental Ilness. I am a Christian also. Do you actually think demon possession happens?

No, it is all mental disorders. I have gone to church with people who were getting psychiatric help and were doing good then they attend a faith healing church that also believe in demon possession and the preacher and members tell them they are just demon possessed or attacked by demons so throw away their medication and they do and go to pot.

Only when they leave that kind of church and start seeking treatment again do they get better.

clearly this is a recognizable event all throughout history. can mental illness be connected, yes. i've seen it go either way. i've seen people freed from demonic oppression first hand. it is a beautiful thing. i've worked with mentally ill as well. much different. the possessed can not stand the Name of Jesus. mental illness usually focuses on a lack of connection with aspects of reality. possession tends to be more spiritual in nature. more often than not i believe m.i. is mostly psychological rather than spiritual. i will bring up spiritual issues and watch for the reaction. if a sudden rage and explosion occurs with the Name of Jesus i become concerned about the spiritual nature of the behavior. a lot of what you see in the movies is hollywood but check out the movie "The exorcism of emily rose" for some views on what can really happen in possession. i respect possession by demonic forces but i never fear. we as Christians have nothing to fear because we serve the most high God. greater is he who is in us that he who is in the world. our enemy the devil is a defeated foe but he will stop at nothing until he is finally thrown into the lake of fire in the end. again possession is all too real but not common. most people are possessed rather by lies not demons. the lies destroy the foundation of their lives only the truth given by Jesus Christ can set the person free from the chains of destructive behavior. If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed!

I know demon possession happens. Its in the bible.I do believe in demons and a Christian cant be possessed, but he can be oppressed. I do believe that chemical imbalance does occur, but would also be covered by the blood of Jesus. Jesus paid for all illnesses by taking 39 stripes with the catonine tails.

Demonic possession DOES indeed occur, though it is EXTREMELY rare compared to popular belief. The majority of the cases are actually, as you say, mental disorders (ie, Emily Rose was a complex case of several disorders).

Priests are often called AFTER a complete medical exam fails to return results. The church then follows a STRICT regimen of tests, including psych evals by specialists (both secular and church based) to determine that there is NO other explanation.

However, there are cases where there is no apparent medical disorder, when excorcism by a priest seems to be the only route AND results in 100% recovery. It is hard, even for the doctors involved, to deny these cases as beyond natural events

Demon possession. Mental illnesses according to the world. They cannot explain, though, how people that only speak English end up speaking German, for example.

Yes. I do think demon possession happens. More than people know. What the Bible calls demon possession, science has redefined. Why? Because they have to be able to explain it with science, not faith.

Anyone who studies the authentic accounts of certain modern day exorcisms will be hard pressed to dismiss such phenomena as simple chemical imbalances or mental illness.

But are you a borne again believer?

I ask you, has the world changed since Jesus walked upon it?
Have people?

Did Jesus change water into wine, walk on water, heal the blind?

Jesus healed people who had demons that caused the illness. The demon was not the illness.

How powerful do you think God is?
Who is the God of this world, and how powerful is he?

Your questions is a little bit confusing. Of course regarding spirituality, possesion exists. Science will say no. Now, if you asking for personal oppinions, well then all depends who your target audience is, or you just want a general opinion. Mental possesion, scientifically, is considered esquizophrenia.

I'm with you.
I personally don't beleive in any one thing, though I have had some weird premonitions of car accidents, only, all five of which came true.
That doesn't make me psychic.
Fact is, teh term "spirit" is used both for alcohol, and for demons.
What it meant, originally, was that people were acting odd, as though they had a demon in them, not because of it.
