Children of siblings are 1st cousins.
Children od 1st cousins are 2nd cousins, and so on.

Removed is when you talk about your parents, grandparents . . . cousins, or about your own cousin's children, grandchildren . . .

Your mother's (1st, 2nd, 3rd. . .) cousin, for example, is your (1st, 2nd, 3rd . . .) cousin once removed. Your grandfather's cousin is your cousin twice removed - he is two generations "removed" from you.

Your (1, 2, 3) cousins' children are yours, once removed. When you are a geezer like me and your cousins have grandkids, they will be your cousins twice removed.

You can get ridiculous. I know a lady whose 6th great grandmother was half-sister to President John Adams' mother, so she is half first-cousin 7 times removed to a president.

Your first cousin ids the child of a aunt or uncle, there children are your once removed cousins.

Your second cousins are your great aunt or uncle's children and then as before, there children are your second cousins once removed. etc, etc

Good luck and good hunting

If you share the same grandfather, you are cousins. If you share the same great grandfather you are second cousins. The daughter or son of your second cousin is your second cousin one times removed.
