Ohhh- the Krebloynes are Malcolm's group of smart kids.

An "accelerated learning class. Much to his dismay...brands him as a 'krelboyne', a reference to Seymour Krelboyne from The Little Shop of Horrors."
"In middle school, Malcolm uncomfortably socializes with his fellow krelboynes, but when the group moves on to high school, they no longer have classes together and stop interacting."

EDIT: I added that once I saw your additional comments. Sorry- I usually put Edit before, but I guess I forgot! haha there you go! Don't worry- you're not crazy!

Krelboyne came from "Seymour Krelboyne" from Little Shop of Horrors. He was a nerd in that movie and in Malcolm in the Middle, the "smart kids" are nerds.
