D&C 49 15
15 And again, verily I say unto you, that whoso forbiddeth to marry is not ordained of God, for marriage is ordained of God unto man.

Ecclis 3 14
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

Matt 18 18
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Matt 9 4-6
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath ajoined together, let not man put asunder.

1 Corinth 11 11
Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord

D and C 132 19
19 And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of dpromise, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of this priesthood; and it shall be said unto them—Ye shall come forth in the first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next resurrection; and shall inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, all heights and depths—then shall it be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, that he shall commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, and if ye abide in my covenant, and commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the seeds forever and ever.

When a marriage is sealed thru the proper authority of the priesthood (authority and power of God) then it is considered to be bound by God. Therefor it cant be broken unless it is broken thru the authority of God and not man.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only religion that professes the strong platform of revelation from God to man. Aside from the fact that there are biblical references to eternal family life, the Church has received instruction and revelation confirming this most important doctrine in exaltation and life eternal.

Is it absolutely crucial to know of doctrinal origins if the doctrine is good for man and will further his salvation and exaltation?

Not everything is instantly learned by a new convert. It is impossible to pass on all that is doctrinally sound and heavenly inspired. Those exercising faith will learn the things of the Gospel; those that are doubters of the faith and live on finding faults will remain in the dark--even to the point of losing that which they'd learned previously.

The basis (not bases) to teach and say that "families can be eternal" relies on that revelation received from on high. If you and others are truly interested in the LDS faith then do something about it other than get all wrought up over the curiosities of the religion.

The only doctrinal issues that must be explained time and time again are faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, true repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost through the authorized ordinance of the laying on of hands by proper authority, and to preach His gospel. Most all else are curiosities that tweak the unbeliever to further declare himself having no party with this religious affiliation.

It truly gets old explaining away such curiosities to those either holding contempt for the LDS Church or to those too lazy to search out the answers for themselves by coming to Church and partaking in its goodness. You, my friend, miss out on so much of learning things for yourself on what makes Mormons and this religion tick for the best.

Hi friend. Thanks for asking actual Mormons instead of trusting some of the many inaccurate anti-Mormon sites on the Internet. Regarding your question, Jesus Christ revealed the doctrine of eternal marriage to Joseph Smith in 1843. The revelation can be found in Doctrine and Covenants 132, at http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/132/ .

I'm Mormon.

All the relevant scriptures have already been given, so I've nothing else to add!

define stupid comment...is it stupid, for instance, to explain that people without sufficient grammatical prowess shouldn't be allowed to ask questions?
