Why do people talk about the different divisions of Christianity being Catholic and Protestant, but I don't hear people talk about Orthodox?
The Orthodox were around before the Protestants.

Othodox are very underrepresented in the U.S. and they're so close to Catholic in fundamental belief and practice, that they're often overlooked.

Orthodox are much like Catholics - both hyperinstitutionalized versions of Christianity - hyperdenomination - both claiming to be the one true church. Both obsess over rituals and in practice treat the Bible as secondary to their own particular writings. There are really only subtle differences between the two, like the Orthodox don't have a pope.

The Orthodox church seems to be neglected. The history behind the Protestant and Catholic churchs are much bigger because they "got more playing time" if you will.

It would be nice to study the origins and the history of the Orthodox church.

When I talk of one being a Christian, I don't refer to any denomination or doctrines of men.

I refer to all who have been born again by the grace of God through faith in his Son. I speak of all those who have been baptized into Christ through his blood and their sins have been washed away. I am referring to all who have passed from death unto life being renewed, born again in their spirits by the quickening spirit Christ Jesus.

So don't put much stock in the doctrines of men for they will claim many a soul in the name of hell.

Believe only the Word of God. Steer clear of those who add or take from the Word of God. Seek the face of the Lord and let his spirit, that spirit of truth known as the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth.

REMEMBER, there will be no denominations in the kingdom of heaven, only the gospel of Jesus Christ.
