It seems throughout history and today whenever there is a problem in the world it always seems to be because of the Jews.

I do not hate anybody, I was just wondering why everyone always focuses on the jews when there is a problem.

Didn't you know the US is at war in the Iraq because of Israel (sacratic question)

I think I should note that I am a Jew and I am not starting this conversation because I hate anybody. I was just interested in other people's opinion on why there is so much hate.

Having read a few answers I think everyone whould agree, that people hate for no reason

"The fact that the Jews are monotheistic is no longer a real issue these days. Contemporary anti-Semitism by and large comes from Christians and Muslims, who consider themselves monotheists. The Jew-hatred these days stems from different sources than in antiquity.

"There is, however, another parallel with antiquity. The otherness of the Jews played a large role in their image among Greek and Roman circles. That also is the case in our own times. Anti-Semites perceive the Jews as being different, and this leads them to see them as dangerous. This imagined danger leads to hatred of the Jews.

"One horrifying aspect of the history of Jew-hatred, namely, the twenty-three centuries of anti-Semitism that we know of, is the tenacity of so many motifs such as that Jews are dangerous and enemies of humankind. These ideas are and always have been demonstrably false. They are, however, much alive up to the present day. It is apparently impossible to break through these perceptions.

"The image of the Jew as an enemy is grotesque and easily exposed as pure nonsense. Still these images are kept alive among many millions of people all over the world. That this is possible is one of the most frightening aspects of the history of Jew-hatred."

I always wondered that same question. I think we have to go all the way back to the beginning. The Jews were always different from the rest of the ancient world, they didn't really join in on worship the Emperor day or things of the like. They had so many dietary restrictions so people probably thought that Jews had a complex that they were better than everyone else with there single God and not eating pork and not working for one day etc...
I am sure I am leaving some things out, but somethings just stick, I know thousands of years later, people still hold these views, plus when Christianity came on the scene, they were blamed for killing Jesus so that didn't help to much. So that is maybe one reason why people still hate Jews so much. But most likely what you said, for no good reason. We hate what we don't understand and fear what we don't know.

You ask "why does...everyone hate Jews?" as though there is a rational answer to that question. As though someone could say some reason that would seem appropriate or rational to you so you could say "oh, that's why!" Hatred has no rationality and no objective reasoning. Have you ever heard of the phrase "fear and loathing"? People who say they hate an entire group of people simply because those people are not like them are actually fearful of them and people hate what they fear. It's moronic....but true,

Some people hate jews. I don't think most. The people who hate jews are people whose identity is invested in being a victim, and they hate Jews because throughout history Jews have refused to be victims, despite overwhelming odds.

I myself have great admiration for Jews, even though they flamed me for asking why they don't move to Israel, if being Jewish is the most important thing in their lives.

So we cause all the problems in the world, do we?

Interesting, given that we Jews make up 0.01 per cent of the world's population.

I think that YOU dislike us, and you are projecting your dislike onto everyone else. The truth of the matter is that yes, we have alas been treated badly at certain points in history; I don't need to mention them because everyone will know what I am referring to. But this was because of racism, not because of anything we did!

There have always been many myths and lies told about Jewish people; thankfully most of them are now known to be utter rubbish but some people do still believe them. But anyone who actually knows any Jewish people realises that we are like anyone else: just humans.

Perhaps you'd care to rethink your attitude.

edit to 'fed up', I think your remarks are unfair. I haven't given you a thumbs down as of course you are entitled to your opinion. But in my own experience, it's almost always non Jews who make reference to some of the more horrible things that Jews have experienced. You are generalising and that's not very logical.

again to 'fed up', did you know that unlike many other faiths, Judaism teaches that all people are equal no matter what their religion? And that everyone no matter what their belief system, has a place in the afterlife, if they lead an ethical life? We don't think we are better than anyone else, I don't know where you get this from.

I wouldn't say that is true at all. Even in America, where most people are familiar with Jews on some level, I'm sure you couldn't say most people hate Jews. And there are probably several billion people on the planet who have never even heard of Jews. No matter what the stereotypes are, if Jews will act as people of goodwill towards others, they will not be hated by most people. As a Muslim, I do not hate Jews and consider them to be the closest in belief to my own faith.

Because the world is anti-God?
I don't hate Jews, why would I?
There is enough hatred already!

I think it is disgusting when people say that hate Jews because killed Jesus.
So if a group of Christians goes and does something horrible would you hate ALL Christians?(I hope not) The men that ordered Jesus's execution are not(were not) the only Jews. Also, would Jesus want us to go around hating Jews? I didn't think so.

Anti-Semitism, as all works on racism regularly show, fits into a more general attitude of “ethnocentrism” in the sense of over-valuation of ones own group and rejection of difference, whether ethnic, religious or cultural.
Those who think Jews have too much power do not like Arabs or Muslims either, and anti-Semitic prejudices develop in the same milieus as racist prejudices, that is among poorly educated people in a situation of economic insecurity and social inferiority who make minorities the scapegoat for their problems.
