My friend is getting married on February. I am helping her with planning the wedding. She has a specific theme that she wants. That is that she wants a mirror and candle theme. Can anyone help me with ideas on how we can plan this and for decorations for the church and reception I would really appreciate.....

This theme would be more for the reception than the church ceremony. Due to fire laws a lot of churches do not allow many candles. She may be able to have the Unity Candle.

Another idea is to use large silver sequins and either glue or stich along the pew bows to give them a mirrored look.

The centerpieces are easy, round mirror with either different size pillar candles, or a bowl with floating candles.
If you go to the dollar store you should be able to find small decorative or hand mirrors that you can remove from the frame.

I would suggest using small candle holders for the name cards and using either tea lights or votive candles, these can double as the favors.

Sounds like fun, good luck!

Hi: That is the easiest centerpiece! You can do soooo many things. Simply get various sized pillars and decorate them if you want and place them on a mirror!

OR....get a large mirror and place a number of votive candles (in holders) and sprinkle rose petals or other flowers on top of the mirror.

There are various glass "globes" that you can buy and put a candle in and then place it on a mirror.

Look at these websites to get ideas:

For the church....that is a little harder. First of all, have her check with the church FIRST to see what is allowed. I work as a secretary at a church, and where I work there are 2 beautiful candleabras that are used. Her church may have some to use. If not, find out if you can bring candles in.

Good luck!

Well, a cool idea I've seen is for the tables at the reception, you can buy round mirrors and place them at the center. Buy candles of different heights and place them on top of the mirrors and then add a few leaves, or sparkles or something to do with your location. When you light the candles, it looks very romantic. For the church, you can look around for those old candle holders with the mirrors and hang those from the pews or buy aisle stands (they have little hooks at the ends) and hang them from there. A great place to buy stuff like this cheap is save-on-crafts.com. I bought a lot of my wedding stuff there and saved a lot of money.

Watch The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Sabina, one of the main characters, has a fascination for mirrors and she creates art with them. She loves mirrors because they tell the truth. the movie is very romantic, one of the most romantic I've ever seen. You might draw some inspiration from it.
