I recently dyed my hair with the $2.99 box of Revlon permanent dark brown hair color. It ended up wayyyyy too dark. I want my natural (light brown) color back! I've heard you can use dish washing soap, and I know that color remover is very damaging, and it doesn't always work. Any tips?

Let your hair grow out and the natural color will be there . It is a slow process but the safest .

As a hairstylist, I would def suggest going to a salon. If that's not an option, color remover and bleaching are your only options. Clarifying shampoos might help it lighten just a little but not a lot.

If you choose to bleach or use a color remover, be very careful. I've had to fix a lot of girls who attempted at fixing their hair...and it doesn't always work out. But if your hair is pretty healthy you should be ok.

good luck

It will definitely fade after a few washes, I use dandruff shampoo when I want it to fade fast becuase it strips colour well. Another good trick is to saturate your hair in Olive Oil and leave it on for as long as you can. But make sure your hair is absolutely soaked in the oil, then wash it out with dandruff shampoo. Try that a couple or a few times, it should work!

Dish washing soap does not work, but if you go to a salon & get a consultation, they could probably help you find the best way to fix your hair with the least amount of damage:]

You can use a dandruff shampoo, or go to the hair salon and get it stripped. I dyed my hair the same color, just give it time. My hair is at it's natural color of golden brown.

This has happened to me last year and my friends told me to do a temp color over my hair and it actually worked, it corrected my messed up permanent color which I actually got done at a salon and my temp color that I did at home looked sooooooooooo much better :)

leave it alone for two or three weeks, then go to a salon & have them dye it back your natural color. you really can't do anything before then though, the coloring alone is damaging. just wait it out.

It will lighten eventually!
Just wash it daily.
