So for our wedding my fiance and I are thinking of incorporating one of his GREAT loves which is movies.

Since it's a wedding I suggested romantic movies...like Casablanca, Titanic, The Notebook etc...

We were thinking of naming every table the name of a movie (instead of having plain old TABLE 8) and then doing a few more movie things....maybe something related to when the guests make the couple kiss (as opposed to clanking on glasses).

I want it to be romantic and not tacky in any way....Please...I need suggestions. Let me know if you think this is a dumb idea period...and any ideas you may have relating to this theme!

Thank you!!

We were also thinking of renting a popcorn machine and having pretty favor bags with our names on them...and our guests can package their own favor (popcorn) and season it as they like. PLEASE be honest and tell me if this sounds to Carnival-ish! lol Thanks all!!

I think the popcorn idea would be perfect given the theme! Besides the usual salt pick out unusual toppings to give that wow! Of course there is the cheese and caramel option (you may want to go with hard containers instead of bags for this reason). But also, look up gourmet popcorns to get other ideas like buffalo with blue cheese.

for the couples kissing make up index sized cards with famous scenes from the movies you have chosen. To make you kiss guests have to act out the scene (2-3 lines like for "gone with the wind" you'd do the frankly scarlet I don't give a damn!)

Centerpieces. Get movie stills from the films (either online or capture from the DVD) Pick up some square glass vases and use ModgePodge to put the films onto the vases. Inside the bottoms get these things called Floralytes. They are LEDs that you can put in water. Battery operated and will last the whole reception. Put inside the vase. Top off with real or silk flowers. The movie stills will have that backlit look as if they were a movie screen. Then it's just a matter of a few tealights for mood.

For placecards look for a sale and pick up different boxes of the movie candy and put at palce settings as an extra favor too (for those who can't eat popcorn and because it would sooo go with theme and only cost $1 each tops)

You have to have a vintage veil. Either do a birdcage veil or just have a feathered hairpiece. Bright red lipstick of course lol. Perhaps even get your guy a fedora and a tommy gun for when you guys are introduced at the reception.

Name the menu items after famous actors. Like maybe instad of baked chicken you serve "cagney and lacy"

coming into the reception maybe you have a red carpet or those old-fashioned velvet ropes.

Otherwise I would just decorate with solid color blocks. It's when you plaster the theme on absolutely EVERYTHING that it goes over the top and starts looking like a kiddie party. I advise my brides that the ways you incorporated the theme need to be counted on one hand. So maybe cake, centerpieces, stationary (invites, table cards), favors.

I love it!! I lvoe the idea of a popcorn machine, you could also have a candy bar whihc is the new thing lately. Basically you would have various candies in bowls etc and people could package their own candy. Maybe personalize the bags and there is your favor and dessert!!

I think naming the tables is a great idea! I would definitely stay away from disaster movies, like Titantic. Titanic is used to describe all kinds of disasters and I am sure your wedding won't be one!! Decorate each table with things from the movie it is named for!

You could also design the place cards like movie tickets. You can have guests sing a movie theme song if they want you to kiss lol that would be great!

Some suggestions:
Breakfast At Tiffany's
Casablanca
Gone With The Wind
Roman Holiday
Pretty Woman
From Here to Eternity
Meet Me In St Louis
Love Story
White Cliffs of Dover
Jerry Maguire
Sleepless in Seattle
Legally Blonde
An American President

wedding themed movies:

Sweet Home Alabama
The Wedding Planner
Jersey Girl
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Four Weddings and a Funeral
American Wedding
Runaway Bride
The Wedding Singer
My Best Friends Wedding
Betsy's Wedding
That Old Feeling

Good luck, it's a great theme!

It's very unique and I love Unique!! Maybe u will try to do ur entrance and/or first dance to a popular theme song from one of the movies. I've thought of doing the same thing. I love disney movies and musicals. My HTB is my Prince Charmin, he's my Alladin, my Eric. And he's especially my Seymour (Little Shop Of Horrors) My first dance will probably be to the instrumental from Little Shop Of Horrors "Suddenly Seymour" U can do alot with this idea. I like the popcorn idea b/c ur making it into a family fun event. Ur having a good time as on ur first moments of being married. I like it. Receptions don't have to be all basic and stuck-up. Have Fun!! Congrats and Good Luck!

That's a really good idea. ha ha, i just thought of something cute for favors, directors megaphones (small of course), with your names and wedding date printed on them. they could also use them to shout "KISS" whenever they want you to kiss. I dont know. It's just an idea. oh, another one, the table names of movies could be on those things that they use for movies that say the name of the movie, the scene, and the take.

My husband's idea...."Remember the movie Top Gun? When Maverick and Goose sing "You've lost that loving feeling" to the blonde, he can't remember her name, maybe somebody could sign the same song at your wedding or reeanact the scene to you.

Sleepless in Seattle is a good romantic movie, but he doesn't know how you can incorporate it.

I'm sure I'll think of more things later. Good luck to you!

It sounds like fun but it will be expensive to have a different theme on every table. Here are some movies to think about

Gone With the Wind
Sleepless in Seattle
It's a Wonderful Life
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies

Ahh, that's romantic. Here is a link to AFI greatest romantic movies. Maybe you could do some of those and find a picture to go with that movie as use it as a centerpiece.
Also how about having someone roll out a red carpet before you enter the hall.

There was an episode of Bridezillas that was Hollywood themed ... it was gorgeous, and very original. Maybe you can get some ideas from there.

Danika and Justin, episode 10.
