I don't know the answer but Rick is usually ahead of the curve on these things. They try to be innovators at HMS and are always looking for some little competitive advantage they can get. One reason Jr was SO unhappy at DEI was their attitude about spending money. He had a 7 post shaker at JR Motorsports when Teresa still hadn't got one for the DEI cup teams. Rick and Jr are alike in that regard, they are willing to do and spend whatever it takes to get better. Another example of that was with testing the COT earlier this year. HMS bought extra haulers and hired more drivers to go all over the country testing the COT. Many teams drug their feet in that area and they were definitely behind in their COT development until they started doing the same thing. The crew chiefs at HMS are not afraid to stick their necks out and test the gray areas of the NASCAR rule book either. They continually get called "cheaters", but just like Smokey Yunick they think outside the box and lead where others follow.

Interesting article. I have no idea when they started using it. I had heard some time back that Ginn motor sports was building a rolling wind tunnel. Which would actually simulate the down force on the car at a particular track. I don't know if that ever happened! But Hi-Tech has came to Nascar!!
Don't bother with the troll. It as only around for a day at a time!

Secause they have the $$$$$ for it that some of the other teams don't. They even take it to the track, don't they.
