I went through radiation treatment for breast cancer after I returned to work (stayed home for part of chemo treatment) I found radiation much easier to tolerate than chemo. I tired easily and food tasted metallic but I was able to get through the entire series of treatments. The skin on my breast got really sensitive and red, like a really bad sun burn but there are creams that help keep it moist. Once finished with radiation I started feeling a lot better. I wish your mom well!

My husband had 33 radiation treatments over 6 weeks and continued to work up until the last 2. It wasn't easy though. Everyone is different but hopefully your mom will take some time off if it becomes too much for her. Hugs and prayers to you both!

I had five weeks of radiotherapy (25 sessions) for breast cancer. I was still on sick leave so not working but I know a few people who worked normally throughout, and many more who worked part-time.
I started getting tired about halfway through the five weeks. I wasn't tired all the time, but from time to time tiredness would overwhelm me. But it's different for each individual.
If you have an understanding boss who realises you may need to take some time off (in addition to the time you'll need to take of for your rads sessions) you should be ok if you want to work.

As many have said its all individual I had 17 ray treatments and I only was tired and a little sunburnt. Unfortunately my treatments were over 2 hours from home so I couldnt work but if I had too I could of. Good luck.

I havent gone through it but my daughter has and it she got really tired and sometimes hungary. She did 3 rounds of radiation. It changed everything about her. skin color- mind you she is african american having hodgkins lymphoma disease. She still went to school and tried to keep up. She did pretty good with that. But I will say all is different. Are you going through it yourself?
