Very good question!
English has a lot of rules to make the pronunciation a bit easier. Think for example about: a car; a house, but: an apple; an egg.
If you had to pronounce the "t" in mustn't, it would be very difficult to do so.

Good luck with it.

I don't know for sure, but I go along with the others who say it's too clumsy to pronounce with the 't'. It's a written contraction, so why not a verbal contraction? :-)

It depends on your accent. some people learn to say it while others don't. Most of my British friends with more "proper" English pronounce it while those with "lower" British do not.

Four consonants in a row is too many... we frequently reduce difficult groups of consonants by only pronouncing some of them.

that's a good question. I guess it's just silent and they wanted to keep the word the way it was spelled.
