Well my friend was once in the same position so he joined a youth theater( not imposeing your young as him) and he spoke up more because he was doing acting and he has become more open. Or you could try find something that takes speaking out to people.

Just be yourself, if you have a shy personality you're fine like that! I'm shy too and i don't mind it any more cos every one is nice in their own special way :D
