I prefer similar level. That said, no one is going to be equal on every level, so it really depends on the person.

It's more enjoyable for me to be with someone who's on the same level. Someone on a higher level can be intimidating (or boring) and someone on a lower level can leave you intellectually unsatisfied.

I'd love for them to be on my intellectual level. I wouldn't even mind if if her level was higher than mine. But I wouldn't go out with her if she wasn't at least where I am. She can't be below me.

Someone on the same level. I don't like talking to people who are completely dense or at least give that impression. I'm not saying you have to be a genius (I'm certainly not), but if me telling you about my job completely baffles you, it's not going to last long.

I'd prefer same, or about the same anyway. Too high wouldn't be that good, and too dumb then.....my mind has to be matched lol!!!!!!!! But it really depends not just on their cleverness but also about personality, looks and attitude, hobbies etc

once the infatuation stage is past, there had better be something solid to keep you interested and connected. it's hard to do that with someone who isn't up to your speed.
