you can't have it both ways. either you emulate him, or you don't. i see Christians trying...for instance....taking the sabbath as a day of rest (like god did when he created the world in 7 days).
if thats true...why are Christians against abortion? how many babies did God abort when he flooded Noah's world? You can't pick and chose which of God's personalities to emulate can you?

You can emulate a God, that is a good and a very moral God, to the degree that it is possible, since you are more than just spiritual. God does not cause natural disasters directly, God did not create a perfect universe. The one he created, is full of imperfections that challenge us, therefore forcing us to develop a strong character spiritually, in order to handle the problems that develop. If man does not prepare himself for event that happen naturally, then bad things can happen. God provide one life after another in my belief system, so you may get caught in some event, every once in a while, but it will all even out over time. If you have a strong character, you will do just fine, and also be able to contribute positively to the world's future. That is what God would like. God can not affect our future, but can guide and reward us, with a stronger spirit and intuition to protect us..

I do not remember the god of Abraham ever saying that he wanted humans to emulate him. Where did you get that from?
Theirs is a jealous god and wants his rules obeyed.

seeking to emulate God is just one of the possible ways to achieve salvation. The goal of emulation though is not to act like God as much as it is to learn to understand His nature. We are not similar to Him so seeking to be like Him is folly.

> Should we try to emulate God or not?
There haven't been any sightings of G-d in the past 1,970 years or so.
I'm sure there are people who wish I'd emulate that.

we follow his commands and emulate his love, but playing God goes beyond our purpose and priveleges. and what fireball means, is that God is not confined to a set of rules. us humans are.

That is impossible. "Emulate" means to try to equal or excel; imitate with effort to equal or surpass. We cannot equal or surpass Almighty God, Jehovah. But we can do the best we can to serve him.
