I would like to know why NASCAR allows the alcohol companies to continue to sponsor racecars when the chose to take the cigartette companies out of NASCAR completely. I think if one should be gone then the should take them both out.

Your representatives banned cigarette advertising. They haven't banned beer ads yet.

Because the United States government say's we are free to do as they say! OK!
Why do people crawl out from underneath a rock and then blame every decision on Nascar when Nascar had nothing to do with it?????????????

Call your state rep. or your congressman and ask him/her.

Ok, the above was my rude answer. The real reason is simply because the United States Government said, "Tobacco companies can no longer advertise there products through sporting events etc."
It actually started in the '70's when they banned Tobacco commercials on TV! Afterall, the guy who played the Marlboro man for year's died of lung cancer. HELLLOO!!

As far as the alcohol, I think the U.S. government learned there lesson with 'Prohibition' when they banned the actual 'sales' of all alcohol completely which created the industry of illegal alcohol which created Al Copone and southern moonshiners which created Nascar....Crap, now i'm stuck in a space/time paradox........

Because by NASCAR putting tobacco advertisements on their cars, it would televise the advertising. Tobacco advertising became illegal many years ago. Alcohol on the other hand, is fine to advertise on TV.

It's all about being legal, not about morals. NASCAR is a business, and if it were legal to advertise tobacco on TV the cars would be loaded with cigarette advertisements.

The Tobacco companies cannot advertise because of a lawsuit that they settled years ago. It all had to do with selling an addictive product that kills people, then they lied about it being addictive. Pulling advertisements was part of the deal when they forked over millions and millions to smokers. NASCAR and Winston did not have much of a say in it. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time when the PC police say alcohol can't be advertised.

Until recently, it was only beer that was "allowed". They are completely different products. Again, it's all about the $$$$. Cigarettes are banned from tv ads, but not alcohol.

...Well there is a lot of politics involved with smoking. Smoking causes cancer and kids are so easily influenced by smoke and fire and such.

...The difference between alcohol and tobacco probably relates back to "Prohibition of Alcohol". Politicians have gone through the fight with alcohol a long time ago. On the other hand people have just recently began to fight the tobacco industry.

...As an X smoker I can tell you it is addictive. Ask anybody to try to quit and they can't (at least not very easily). A person can quit drinking easier than he can quit smoking.

...There has been so many heath problems attributed to smoking and second hand smoke that it is best not to advertise it especially to kids. It may look cool and feel good for a while but it eventually gets you down and tries to keep you down.

...I have been quit smoking for 4 years now and if not advertising smoking will keep someone from starting then I am all for it.

alchohol is awesome thats why. Plus the t-shirts look cooler than lets say a peto bismal shirt or depends t-shirt. Maybe instead of budweiser next year kasey kaine can run a odualls car for those who like the taste but don't like the alchohol

They want publicity. So they put the big things on popular cars. One the regular die-cast car they don't put beer on it, but on the adult collectibles they do. I have some adult collectible cars.
