I believe you mean Sam Harris.
No, I haven't read it yet.
I agree, it is very valuable to read your "opponents" way of thinking to better understand how to communicate with them.
Although we disagree about the existence of god, I respect the effort you are taking in trying to understand atheism.

I'm an athiest. A fairly well educated one I think. One of my college degrees was Ancient History of the Levant (Mesopotamia) So, I studied other things than just the Bible. And many of those documents, are much more original and often older than the Bible. Christians are thumping things the wrong way with people like me. Quoting verses won't cut it. Either I already know of them or know how to read up. Why I don't believe has very much to do that I don't believe your reference soruce. Want to be more convincing you'll have to find collaborating historical and scientific references.
You might even impress me by actually lifing the type life you preach or even telling of a personal inner relation with god.
But, I find myself unable to communicate with evangalistic and fundamentalist Christians. Actually, few of them but very outspoken. Most main line Christians are very reasonable. If anyone happens to have a master's degree in religion it might trump my bachelor's in History. But not if from a religious collage or seminary. I went to seminary. Not because I believed but to find out things. Great investment school and I also learned how to "Fleece the Sheep."

Sam Harris, not Norris. Sam Harris is powerful, and well spoken, but he is not the mighty Chuck Norris.

My favorite quote - "Despite a full century of scientific insights attesting to the antiquity of the earth, more than half of our neighbors believe that the entire cosmos was created six thousand years ago. This is, incidentally, about a thousand years after the Sumerians invented glue"

its religious people who get upset when you question their beliefs. athiests typically dont have beliefs to get upset about. the reason we get upset is because its so frickin impossible to deal with the irrational arguments christians tend to make. Like that banannas and peanut butter are proof of god....

I have read that book, and it is well written and Sam has a nice turn-of-phrase. I enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it.

I've read Harris's book. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but there are better defenses of the atheist position available.
