I'm a sophomore at a new high school and I became friends with this guy who rides my bus. Until recently, I was about 97% sure he liked me, but I think he gave up because I didn't seem interested. The thing is, I'm VERY interested, but I'm too shy to show that. I'm really not ready to have a boyfriend, but I kind of want to tell him I like him just so I don't have to hold it in anymore. Would that be cruel and inhumane, or does it not matter since he gave up? Plus, I'm not sure it's even worth the effort, cause he has so many female friends and so many other girls think he's cute.

If you're not ready for a relationship, don't lead him on. Know your own limitations, and don't do anything until you're ready, no matter how you may feel about him. He may have given up flirting with you, but it's likely he'd still date you if given the chance.
And it sounds like you're already jealous of his female friends - guys don't like that at all. He's not dating them, so there's nothing to be jealous of. If you do have a relationship with him, know that he chose you, not someone else.

I think it would be okay to tell a guy that u like him even if its just as a friend and hey u never know u just might want to date him after u get to know him better.

The important part is that you're honest about your feelings- why don't you want to go out with him? If he actually likes you, he'll understand your reasons, and you two will be able to hang out and just have a good time. Who knows- it might turn into something :)
