It sounds like he's jealous of your time. If he does this when you're alone w/him, then he's just showing you that he wants some attention. Maybe you could find something with a long cord (pj cord, sweat pant cord) to drag around and play w/him. My cats love to chase a fly swatter, when I "swish" it back and forth along the floor. If you'll play w/him, and get him tired, this "attack" thing may subside. If that doesn't work, you can mix some vinegar w/water, and keep a spray bottle of it next to you, and when he "attacks" you, squirt him. He will NOT love the vinegar......It won't hurt him...just don't get it in his eyes! After he's fixed, his hormone level should calm down. Good luck.......

From my experience, kittens are completely nuts for the first year or so of their lives. They do crazy things for no apparent reason. If it makes you feel any better, he will probably grow out of it and will probably calm down a lot once he's neutured. For the mean time, see if there is a reason for the pouncing that you could fix- kittens will pounce on anything that is even slightly moving, like toes and fingers (my kitten even pounced at my eyelashes!) That could be drawing him to you. Is it always when you are in the same spot? Maybe there is a shadow or something that is attracting him. The best advice I can give you for the time being is to say "NO!" firmly when he does it. And try to catch him right afterwards and lock him in another room. If he likes to socialize with you then a "time out" by himself may help, but it has to be right away for him to understand what action he his being punished for. Good luck!

Your kitty is still a kitten. I think he is just being playful. Little kittens do some odd things such as this and I think he is just entertaining himself. I feel that you will notice a calm down in him after you get him fixed. In the meantime, I would use just a squirt bottle full of water and just shoot him with it when he does this. That may work. If not, just be patient it is just the kitten phase he's going through. Try getting him little toy mice or a string hanging down in a door way. Kittens like to bat things around and bite.

First, cats do not respond well to negative discipline, so please even if you can reach him don't hit him. It will only make him scared of and combatant towards you. Here's what you do, keep a bunch of cat toys by you on the couch preferably hidden under the cushion. when you see him get into position to attack take out a toy and distract him. It could be a wand with a feather on the end, or a fake mouse that you can throw across the room. Good luck

It sounds like he might just not trust the people in your house or apartment and he might be trying to warn them to get out... he's also a little kitten so he wants to play, but since he runs away then it sounds like he just feels threatened by the people around you.. does he bite you? Maybe he doesn't trust you either.. play with him more and give him treats and pet him while you are giving them to him.

If he likes water, then maybe you could try using one of those things that gets dust off of electronics.. ya know what I'm talking about? Like those air sprayer things... that sort of has the same effect as water, just don't do it too hard or long.. just give it a little spray if he gets close or starts running towards anyone.. you know when he's getting ready to bite.. just have one of those on hand and get him when he's getting ready to do it.. he'll learn eventually.

That's just what I would do... good luck!! And it's good that you're getting him neutered early so he doesn't start spraying and have other problems... kudos to you!! :)

He sounds like a crazy cat that needs a companion. A lot of times cats with this type of behavior were taken from their littermates too soon and he didn't go through the proper stages of learning how to play.

Don't get rid of him - get him a playmate to beat up on.

Well, first off...I don't think hitting your cat would be the answer anyways...
Did you used to "play" with him in a similar way when he was younger and now it just isn't funny anymore? I'm not sure shock collars could be used on a cat (talk to your vet first) but maybe a couple zaps would fix things?!

Neutering may help calm him down. Also he's just at that age. Kittens can be quite wild like this but it will likely pass as he gets older. Remember that right now he's still a baby. He'll mellow out as he gets older.

OH and beware of a boyfriend who tells you to get rid of your pets.
