china doesn't posess the capibility to invade the US, nor does it have any reason to do so. US and chinas economies are so intertwined as to being the equivelant of china stabbing itself in the eye! the chinese have 1.2 billion citizens to worry about, the last thing they need is a superpower upsetting the apple cart. a much more likely scenerio is a proxy war with iran as the surrogate of china and russia. the us, china and russia all know that a direct conflict would be catastrophic but if a a war with iran erupts its not only possible but likely that china and russia will support iran. russian and chinese nukes will most likely not enter the equation for fear of a direct conflict should a device be traced back to the originator, however, technical assistance and materiael may give or enhance the iranians nuclear capibility. china has to protect her economy at all costs, invading a superpower isnt really conducive to that end. especially since we're their best customer. if china should liquidate its us investments the us may counter with a trade embargo. both countries will feel the hurt but chinas economy would be devestated. dont overestimate the robustness of the chinese economy. to put it in perspective remember that china is ranked 4th in gdp between uk and germany 2.6 trillion, us is ranked first at 13.2 trillion!!! 5 times the production of the chinese economy (2006 imf). a positive trade balance would actually hurt china much more than the us. it would be a catastrophic error to confront the US directly and even in a proxy war because of the leverage each country has over the other.

What I think will happen is that China will become powerful that there will be an equilibrium in the world between two superpowers. There will be arms race and each other will be more restrained in their actions around the world unlike today where America is the only superpower so it feels free to roam the world and instigate wars and so forth. What will happen after that equilibrium I'm not sure. But given what we know now it is most likely that Red China will emerge as a global power to reckon with in the future. The Chinese are very secretive about their military, unlike the Soviets who were always showing off therefore enabling America to openly compete with them. With China their progress and military advancements are kept in secrecy. China also holds vast amounts of treasuries in our government that to dumb them would almost mean the collapse of our dollar and economy. Whatever the outcome is one thing is for sure, empires rise and fall. The British ruled the world for 300 years and finally thought they had it but they were wrong. I'm sure our American nation thinks the same

Well, they could (thinking realistically). If they will? Saying either yes or no would be incrediblly bold.
If a conflict did arise between the USA and China, it would come about due to the USA attacking Iran in the future, which a lot of politicians from both the right and left seem to be giddy about.
As far as Russia is concerned... they might tag along, but the country isn't doing well enough to be a deciding factor in the course of the event you're describing. If China wanted to, they could do it on their own. Which is a very terrifying thought, given our debt with china.

This is actually a very good question but not worded how I would have put it. I feel eventually China will become the Super Power. I mean, look at history. A Super Power can only stay on top for so long. However, I do not feel that there will be a war between our two countries. China has grown considerably do to the help from the U.S. They know that we have helped bring them along to where they are today. We will never be the weakiest link in the world but eventually we will have to step aside as number one.

i would say no because almost 80% of the Chinnese factories are owned by Americans. The public doesn't have that much freedom either the averege work time is 16 hours. They won't get away with attacking a nuclear owner country that has shown it's ability to attack any nation that take any military action (1945 Japan). I doubt they win because even if they nuke the 48 contigious states. there are nuclear power plant in Guam,Alaska,Hawaii and Great Britain.

It is really something to think about (China making steps to be the one who is in charge of the United State). Looking back over the last 10 years, how we have treated each other here in the United States with no respect. Judging people by the color or their skin, looking at who is better fit for this job. Our County, the United States are not as successful as they should be when it comes to loving each other, hiring people who never really lived in the United State for the jobs, people been here all their lives having problem keeping their homes and being able to come together as a nation to protect what is already our from the beginning of the foundation of the world. I think, we have given the other countries more assistant than they needed to receive from the United States. Helping them not knowing, they were going to take what we help them with and use the resources to come back and use it to sack us (over power us). We need to stop people that are not a resident of this country coming in taking over. People help build this United Stated are the ones who been over here all their lives and are put in the back of the lines for what they need to live a comfortable life here in the United States. Leaderships at this point is out of order, and need to re-think, look back to how the other nations has come into the United States and move us out of what rightful belong to us anyway. We humans (Leadership in the United States) were trying to help other people by doing what the word of God says "love our neighbor" but, as we can see, they accepted what we had to offer and knock us out of the picture to get to where they need to be. Think about it? We little people see things that you Big leaders are really not focus on. Living this life is more than making your name shine in the spot light, what you all have done affect more than you. Leadership must think in advance (long range planning, that will benefits the nation), looking into the future for what is best for the United States. God Bless American. I will keep praying for God to keep us in His will.

I'll be frank. NO nuclear states can EVER go to war with one another. The result will always be a nuclear holocaust.
The closest China would ever get to invading U.S. would be arming some type of Mexican lead invasion.
And this is deep in fantasy land.

Yes they can. But the Chinese don't need any military invasion to do that. All they have to do is to send their CEO's, top managers and auditors over. Then presto.... they will take-over American industries and corporations. And every American will end up as their employees.

We can avoid what you describe the same way we held off the soviet Russia threat --- mutually assured destruction. That means if you wipe us out you'll be wiped out too.
