I agree though it will never happen.Even though many Christians are now fairly tolerant there will always be fundies who hate us.
Since your in the UK like me your unlikely to meet too many crazy Pagan hating Christian fundies in reality so your luckier than many of your kind in America.

I think it depends on what you mean by "accept".
As a Christian, I do have acquaintances who are Wiccans/Pagans.
If I know that they have already heard about Jesus (and most have, obviously), then there really is no point in my badgering them about it, is there?
I can be sad because, according to what I believe, they have chosen to reject the King of Kings.
I can still like them, and maybe even hang out with them, as long as we don't let our different beliefs enter into the conversation, right?
I have a Wiccan friend who knows good and well that I pray for her...she doesn't seem to mind, since she knows that I am giving her the best that I have, and she takes it as good wishes for her, which is what prayer is, really. She has never screamed at me to "MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS"...she accepts me for who I am.
Too bad more Wiccans/Pagans can't be that way...

I for one am sick of the intolerance of any other religion by the 'christians'. The scary part is that i dont think jesus would be a christian in this day and age. Jesus never read the bible, never said hail marys, he just did what he knew was the right thing and accepted people for what they were (or were not). None of his friends were christians, they were thieves and whores.
As far as finding a coven, my personal advice would be to really develop what you believe before you start trying to meld that into a group with others. I would seriously look at your ability and what your know/are capable of doing. Its important to get a core skillset down before trying group work, its a completely different ballgame. I know, both of my brothers are also wiccan priests, im a priest, and my fiance is a priestess. Feel free to email me if you need any other advice in a more personal manner. I have huge amounts of resources at my disposal. That goes for any pagan.

Early Christians worked very hard to convert pagans. Their tactics were simple; scare people into converting. The thought that you would be condemned to an eternity in flames was the perfect way (no one likes to be burned). Keep in mind, also, that the Christian church demands monetary "donations". Wiccans know to run in the other direction if ever asked for money from someone who claims to be working as a Wiccan. So, to answer your question, the church stands to loose MONEY if it looses parish members so they keep lying to their followers.
If you're going to be pagan you must deal with the ignorance that surrounds you. Some wiccans stay closeted while others, such as myself, out themselves with people they know and trust. You must do what is comfortable for you. Educating people to the Olde Religion is a personal choice. Just remember, if you are following this path you are obligated to answer any questions you are asked about it or help who asked find the answer. Volunteering information or prostilatizing is a "no-no".
Whatever your choice my advice is to BE CAREFUL. It's a harsh reality but people so get killed over this religion. Ignorance is no bliss it's dangerous.

Are you really a Wiccan or are you just trying to piss off all of the Christians? I don't know why people like you even care what Christians have to say in the first place. If you truly think that they should "MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS," then why are you even concerned with being in their business? Give it a rest already. Let them have their beliefs and you have yours. But this war of words about Wiccans are right, Christians are wrong and vice versa and all of this why don't people like me, why am I an outcast garbage is just a waste of time. Live your life and let the haters be damned.

The fanaticism that is christianity indoctrinates their children at a young age to believe that anything that is not christian is evil. They want your money. That's the bottom line. I believe the christian church is supposed to get 10% of your weekly earnings as a tithing (tax free to the church of course) and that's the MAIN reason the church has been so aggressive throughout the centuries when it comes to converting. Just ignore them. As a pagan...set an example and don't let them ruffle your feathers.Just say...Blessed be" or some other pagan blessing and smile with the fact that you are strong enough to make a decision without the help of an invisible man.

As a fellow pagan, I must ask you WHY is it important if Christians accept you or not?
All I care about is that I am treated with the same respect and human dignity and my children and family are not harassed or persecuted. I could care less what they think of my spirituality.
However, I would submit that if a Christian sees it fit to take apart my beliefs, they also open themselves to me doing the same to their beliefs and religion. Most really HATE it when you do that and worse yet point out the well supported historical facts about the pagan influences of their doctrines and festivals. So I would recommend they take their own scripture seriously and "Treat others the way you would like to be treated yourself. "
If you hate people scrutinizing your beliefs and condemning it, then don't do it to other people.
I have had to learn to be spunky and thick skinned. I live in the South among MANY staunch evangelical and Southern Baptist Christians.

It's not just Christians or all Christians. It's an exclusive group of militant know-it-alls who have the only truth and live by the motto "believe or burn."
I actually know some Christians who are rather alright people though. Actually, I follow some of the teachings of Jeshua, so I could probably be considered a Christian. Hell, you're probably somewhat a Christian- I bet you love other people and generally spread kindness. This is what Jeshua actually taught; it's just 2,000 years causes less enlightened people to take charge and beat submission into people.
anyway, you're welcome to join here if you want an open community. http://secretpaths.freeforums.org/index.php

You can find other Wiccans and Pagans in your area through the Witches of the World pages at Witchvox:
http://www.witchvox.com/xvn.html
Just use the pull-down menus to find individuals, groups, shops and events that are close to you.
As to your other question... to many Christians, if you're not with them, you're against them. They simply can't comprehend that we honor other Gods than the one they know. Also, their religion often commands them to save others from what they see to be a path straight to a very unpleasant fate, and many Christians are driven to convert others out of compassion and concern.

For all the reasons stated above, but also...some pagans do practice dark magic and cast evil spells. At least they claim to, I hear them talking about it. (I am a pagan, so I know lots of them)
And many are hostile and vocal about their negative feelings about Christians and Christianity.
Just saying the "pagans are all peaceful and loving, Christians are all condemning" stuff doesn't fly...not even with pagans.
Bad behavior takes place on both sides, as well as lots of good behavior and positive interaction.
If you are a Wiccan, you know all about balance and the importance of noticing all aspects of an issue.

*drink* [Wait a minit; I gotta get some in the kitchen.]
OK, do you honestly not know the answer, or was this meant rhetorically?
Christians are taught that their way is the only way; something about "coming to the Father through Jesus." And Jesus told them to preach to all the world, baptizing in His name, and so on so forth. They have come to see it as a duty.
Witches are especially a problem because they are taught we/you (Where am I on that?) worship the Devil. You and I know that it not true, but just your saying it will make no difference to someone who accepts only the Bible, and his church's interpretation of it, as the authority on religious matters. "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live," it says, although any number of people have pointed out that the Hebrew word was actually more like "poisoner." Problem is, WHY was it translated as "witch"? Because in the middle ages it was believed that all nasty things could be attributed to witches. Or to the supposed Christians who bought their assistance in nefarious schemes.
Just accept the fact that they cannot accept your religion, and don't be too out-of-the-broom-closet with them unless you enjoy the debates and hassles you will get.
And as to finding a coven near where you live, I believe www.witchvox.com is the usual source. At the very least, it's a place to start.
