Only one who has been called to interpret what that person is saying can do so. This is only one form of tongues which deals in prophecy generally speaking. Another type is when some speaks in tongues (or a foreign Earthly language). This is for the unbelievers in most cases (read Acts 2) God will cause a person to speak in another language (earthly) that that person does not know. For instance if you start speaking under the influence of the Holy Spirit you might be speaking German instead of English even though you have never taken a class or spoken German in you life. that is What speaking in tongues is from a biblical standpoint.

What you might be hearing also is people praying in tongues. Praying in tongues is something totally separate. This involves speaking in a Heavenly language that is not known by man. This is when your spirit ta;ks directly to the Father. "For we know not what we should pray for so the Spirit makes intercession for us with meaning's and groans." If you pray in tongues and want to know the interpretation you simply need to ask the Father in prayer for the interpretation.

Speaking in tongues is a Heavenly Language between you and God. You only interpret if God allows you to do so.

There should always be an interpreter so all may understand. The interpreter speaks in your language.

Read: Acts: 2. Speaking in tongues is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. And it is a wonderful feeling!

If it really is tongues, then the Holy Spirit should give the interpretation to someone in the meeting.

You can learn about how the Gifts of the Holy Spirit work by reading these three chapters in the Bible:

1 Corinthians chapters, 12, 13 and 14

If you actually read the scriptures about speaking in tongue, it's perfectly obvious it means speaking another language, not useless gibberish. God is not illogical, He would not give us a "gift" of babbling nonsense. Speaking in tongue, the true meaning, had a lot of usefullness, as that's how the apostles spread the word when they traveled to other countries, by speaking the native language. Now, it wouldn't make any sense at all to speak a foreign language to me, I don't speak anything but English, hense speaking a foreign language to people who can't undersand it is just stupid. This is why an interpreter is mentioned, but the word interpreter actually means the foreign person to whom the apostle would be spreading the word to.

You would have to ask the Lord to give you an interpretation and if it was His will for you to interpret it, it would be given to you through the Holy Spirit. Read 1st Corinthians 14-27-28......If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most three, and that by course; and let one interpert. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

This is the gift of speaking in tongues being used prophetically. One has a word in a different language in the congregation. Another person has the interpretation given to them what the message is. Or someone in the congregation knows the language & the message is for him/her. (This happened at my Church before.) Let it be done in order, with 2-3 confirmations in the spirit. If you want to understand what the person is saying, listen for the enterpreter. Or ask God for understanding & God may give you the gift of understanding what was said in the Spirit. And then the Spirit may lead you to stand & speak the interpretation.

And I pray in tongues in my prayer closet sometimes & ask God what is the meaning. So? I can pray understanding it also. And a word can come to me that I understand. That would be an answer to my question.

So? You have to ask God for the gift of understanding what is said in the Spirit. This is really a gift of God. Nothing we can give God for it. Except our attention.

Seek God for the ability to interpret. Seek him with everything you got and I guarantee all the Gifts of the Spirit will be yours.

It is very important that people speak in tongues only when they are in the paths of other believers lest they get caught by spiritual destruction. As for me, I heard many forms of tongues, you really have to be strong in forgiveness because a lot of people will be exposed by you.

Pray without ceasing, fast for an untold sum, seek him diligently in your prayer closet. Like Cornelius in the book of Acts, you are the professor of your faith. Because every time you hear a prayer, your job is to replace it with something that is presentable before the Lord. He looks at his interpretors before the people, because we lost our faith.

The interpretation can only come through the Holy Spirit. There is not other way to understand it.

People speaking in tongues shouldn't speak them out loud unless they have an interpreter. It says so in the Bible. otherwise it's just your love language between you and God.

speaking in tongues should be limited in public, unless there is an interpreter.....interpretation is a special gift.
