Felines always eat the liver of their prey. It is a rich source of Vitamin A which cats must get from their food - they can't make it in their bodies.
I prepare a raw meat diet for my cats - it includes 4 oz of chicken or turkey liver per 2 lbs. of ground meat.
One of my cats liked to eat raw chicken liver and I would give her a small amount no more than once a week as she was also getting it in her food every day.
So if you are doing up a whole chicken definitely see if your cat would like the raw liver - the heart is also an excellent source of taurine.

Yes cats can eat liver and kidney. Before cats were domesticated they survived as predators and their prey were small animals and rodents like mice and birds. When a cat east a mouse or a bird, they eat every thing to include the liver and kidneys. Some people may argue that you need to cook it first, but a cat's natural food is raw wild animals! Some times they will eat a little grass or some greens to help their digestion, but they mostly eat meat.

They can eat liver, but too much causes some really bad diarhea. It's an organ meat and there's something about it that just makes cats get the runs from it. Muscle meat is much better for them.

Cats can eat liver - in small amounts it's good for them as it contains vitamin A, which they need.
Overfeeding of liver can cause them problems hypervitaminosis A and calcium phosphorous imbalance.
Liver is a good snack, just not something for daily meals.

cats can eat whatever they like. Liver is a treat. If you hold out a piece of raw liver, the cat will go nuts and take off your finger to get at it. It is a drug to them it is that good tasting. Everything else is bland oatmeal by comparison.

That's not true. They can eat it, just not too much. They eat liver in the wild, and domestics can do the same.

liver is the main ingredient in the diet of one of my cats - she has kidney failure and needs the nutrients in the meat, so i generally make her food. the recipe is one my vet gave me, so i'd have to assume it's a safe organ for felines.
