It depends on what you are trying to DO to your tummy. Are you trying to TONE or lose fat. If you are trying to lose fat you need cardio more than strength. If you are trying to tone, then crunches, leg lifts, etc... would be better exercises.

If you're looking to lose fat, interval training is the way to go. Simple aerobics will do like running or jog. Even brisk walking will help. Interval training is where you change speeds regularly when running. For example, you start off going in a slow jog, start moving in a faster jog, break off in a sprint, slow down to a jog, break off in a sprint, so on and so forth. It's very easy to do and is the most effective way to lose fat. Also, make sure your diet is in tact, make sure you're not getting too much fat or sugars, NOT CARBS. The bad carbs are sugar, good carbs are out there too. I would shoot for a 40-40-20 (protein, carbs, fat) diet if you're really interested in losing fat. Hope this helps. :)

OK, barbells are for your shoulders and arms, NOT for your stomach. You need to do exercises for your abs - crunches, etc. THAT will help get your abs in shape. Do a search and you can find some exercises.

Not sure about that, maybe...

On The Biggest Looser Last Night, Bob Harper suggested the most effective exercise for the mid section is bicycle crunches. I trust Bob Harper whole heatedly- he is just amazing!
