I think some of the "What Ifs" do happen. For example, the one about "What if someone I love dies?"
You could try to think of a "What If" and then come up with a plan of action once and for all. Once you decide what you would do in a given situation, you will be less likely to have to replay it in your head. Best Wishes
I hope this helps.

They dont happen unless you want them to happen. the second you get those what if's in your head and we all know how annoying and stressing it could be, go for a jog, listen to your ipod or start a journal. keep yourself busy. what really helps is YOGA. Omg i was in the most depressing state where i would literally lie away at night asking myself millions of questions. So I wanted to do something about it. Life is too short to just sit around and stress myself out for no reason.
So I took up YOGA. go to Yogashelter.com thats where i go. I love it! I not only saw major changes in my body within a week which was a total plus but i was in a better state of mind. you literally feel I dont know...cleansed. lol i guess. but just relax and mellow out.
dont do yoga at home...its def not the same!
xoxo
hope i helped a little bit :)

If you're going to think "what if" anyway, start only thinking positive "what ifs" like: what if I win the lottery? what if he/she really is the person of my dreams? what if I don't get ill all winter? what if I find a $20 bill on the ground? what if I win a contest to remodel my house? what if the dog never messes the floor again? Be a "what if" optimist!

what do you mean, like "what if I'd caught the bus I missed"? Watch the movie Sliding Doors; things always work out, even you take the long way to get there. A "what if" is only another path you could have taken - maybe in an alternate reality, you did take it.

huh, yeah they are annoying aren't they? all the bad what-ifs just happened to me this week. all of them!! but it's best to be prepared and be thought of as negative than to be all optimistic and then be in a nasty situation because you just thought everything was gonna be all happy and what not, and then it doesn't turn out that way.

No. Not unless YOU make THEM happen.
Tell them to shut up, go away and count to 200 and then take 10 deep breaths.
If you're on meds, call your doctor or therapist and ask if these are "normal" side effects. You might need your rx changed.
Good luck.

It is actually normal for your mind to go through progressions to prepare you for many different outcomes of various scenarios, but if it gets out of hand you need to see a doctor.

You sound worried or paranoid. Its your self conscious kicking in. You need to face the truth. If your having what if's or doubts... chances are you probably should change your decision or actions. Something is trying to tell you its risky.

No, they are just you're mind trying to work out all the different answers to an equation or equations.
try to relax and think about something else, go and do something or watch a movie.
its nothing to worry about, we all do it from time to time.
