Nope... You don't need a license to go allong. But you are not allowed to have a firearm.

I am here in Canada and that is how it is here as well.
If you go with someone who has a license but you yourself do not, then anything you do which assists the licensed person hunt is by definition "hunting".
I go out with my father. He has no hunting license and if he is seen using a binoculars (spotting)or assisting me in any way,he could be charged with hunting without a license.
Do you need a gun license to get a hunting license in your state?
In Canada I can hunt with a bow but I don't have to have a gun license but I do have to have a hunting license.
I would talk to the ministry in your State and see if there are any legal allowances they may already have in place with regard to handicapped hunters and their assistants.
I would bet there is already something set-up for just such a thing.

not only can you go along, but if you want to hunt (if they will give a felon a license in La.) just use a black powder rifle. The BATFE determined that a black powder rifle IS NOT A FIREARM. so, if a felon can get a hunting license there ( ask fish and game) you could still hunt. The problem is, that as a convicted felon, you are forbidden to be around a gun, or anyone who has one. SO, unless he is bow hunting, or using a black powder rifle as well, you can be arrested and convicted.
